I love mine, just be careful about how many auto loading apps you have running. The battery is crap if you toss in bluetooth, constant data connection on 3g, and gps positiong you lucky to get 3 hours out of it. I am constantly around computers so the battery life isn't that much of a big deal to me.

Roommate has one, loves his. They're sweet phones. As stated before, turn off the GPS and bluetooth unless you're using them, (GPS emergency On is a good idea though). Touchscreen works well, keyboard is nice, slider is sturdy.

I have one. It is useful, but if you're looking to buy new, I would spend the bucks on a Google Nexus One instead.
Its the little things with the phone that will annoy you... the occasional sluggishness (especially using the camera), the touch-screen going wonky at times. It is very much HTC and google's first attempt at a cell phone, and it shows.
I have had mine since they were released. I have it unlocked and rooted and can use it as a 3G hotspot with wireless tethering (we used it for internet access in Breckenridge), but i'm still looking on the horizon for my next android phone when my contract runs up in November.

Tarzan man what app are you using for the wireless Tethering/3g hotspot?

I have two apps. 'aNetshare' and 'Wireless tether for root users'
I have aNetshare set to bluetooth only, so I use that when I don't want to share my connection.
Don't bother running either program unless you have the phone plugged in to a charger. Wireless tethering will drain your battery in less than 30 minutes

+1 on this. The G1 is cool, but with all the new Android phones coming out, this one is becoming dated. The N1 is SOLID. I love mine. TMO also has some other Android phones from HTC which are awesome, like the myTouch. Theres another one coming out soon, but I cant put my finger on it.

So far these have gotten pretty good reviews and I can find them for pretty cheap. I hate buying electronics to begin with since what you pay for it now will be 2-3X what they will be worth in about 12 weeks. Anymore by the time you get whatever it is fully figured out there is something new that makes your phone look dated.
What I am looking for is a good reliable cheap upgrade. I think the G1 fits that bill since I am still under contract and can not upgrade without paying full price right now. I have been shopping around on Craigslist and can upgrade both my phone and my wife's for around $300, both to G1's.

Isnt that the case with anything though? Only a few things appreciate after purchase. But if you want something cheaper and can upgrade for under 3 bills, then sounds like the G1 is your go to.
