I know this is a bit of a strange request but does anyone know where someone could possibly rent a bike? I have a friend who freelance rides/writes for a few magazines in India and will be in the US around the first week of May. He will be staying with me for about a month while he does his pilot recurrence training and we are trying to find him a bike that he can use and write about (bike or a trip) when he is here.

Does anyone know/run any motorcycle shops that may be open to letting him rent a bike? Does anyone have a spare bike and wants to make a few extra hundred in May? I have been planning a multi-day trip up the Blue Ridge Parkway to Spruce Knob, WV and Josh is interested in doing this trip as well. He may use it for another article.

Here is some of Josh's more recent work: (EDIT: First two are PDFs, they may take some time to load)

Here are some older ones, but those are some great bikes! (posted for the sheer enjoyment of old bikes)

He used to write and ride for BS Motoring before coming to America to start his flight training. I have flown and ridden with the guy many times and I recommend him highly. He is great both in a plane and on a bike. (He taught me how to ride, I taught him some of his flying)

Anyway, If anyone has any information that may be helpful please let me know.

Thanks

Thanks. I shot them an e-mail to see if they would be willing to do a month rate. I know at about $120/day he would just buy a bike when he gets here instead of paying several thousand to rent one. (Then I will get stuck with the resale, but hey, what are friends for!) :)

Rider's Hill in Dahlonega rents out Aprilias. You really can't beat an Aprilia in North Georgia.

I might be willing to rent out my Aprilia since I will not be able to ride for a week or so after Lasik. Let me know what we are talking about.

I can't speak for Josh but I am sure he would be willing to drop a few hundred to someone for the use of the bike. He will be here about a month. I know him well and he takes very good care of his bikes. He taught me how to ride on his KTM thumper he had when he was living here.

All the bikes listed would be fine with him. He was thinking about just trying to find some CL gem of the week rat bike if he can not line up something to ride.

If you guys dont mind shoot me a PM with some prices you would be willing to rent your bikes for a month and I will pass them along.

Thanks guys, great info and suggestions. That's why I checked here first!

Nikk, shoot me a PM if you are serious about putting one together. He is good with a wrench, he helped me build a 360t cafe bike in my parking lot and we redid the valves in my kitchen sink! He knows a thing or two. :) Let me know what you had in mind.
