What's your favorite brand of gear and why? I've been looking around for a new textile jacket and cant figure out the difference between Rocket, A-Starts, or Icon, etc. Any reason to choose one over the other besides price? TIA. I'll hang up and listen.

I think you get what you pay for up to a point..... textile... Rocket, Frank thomas, Icon, roadgear... there are tons of textile makes out there...
Comfort and protection if you are are a street rider plus the ability to swap out a liner or two helps me decide.
I'm down to riding in a Frank Thomas jacket for about 75% of the year...

I've never really worn a textile jacket...but the Olympia stuff has always seemed really nice, especially some of their full suits.
Rode out to Columbia, SC for a week and a half and aside from gloves really havent picked up great cold riding gear yet. Hit up a Dick's sporting goods and picked up one of the long sleeve under armour cold series out of the hunting section. Man that thing made a huge difference. We rode back home yesterday and pretty much got rained on the entire way. It did a great job of wicking the water away. Leather jacket and it were soaked, skin totally dry. Gonna pick up a set of bottoms next and ditch the long johns haha. Allowed me to shed some layers for the same warmth.
Edit:
I've had a Joe Rocket, Cortech, and A-Star leather jacket. I think the biggest difference between the brands you'll find is the actual fit. Joe Rocket always seems to be cut for...well, overweight Americans haha (we've all been there). A-Star...the other end of the spectrum. The Cortech (if I remember correctly) felt like a happy medium between the two. I haven't tried on a Cortech in a while but I remember the stock armor being much more substantial than the Joe Rocket stuff.
My 2 cents

Tour Master Flex gear for daily riding. Been pretty rugged and has removable textile panels with mesh underneath. Kobe Dragon two piece leathers with a 360* zipper. Again, pretty rugged even through two crashes. Icon Merc gauntlet gloves, those puppies have been tough, on my second pair now.

can't go wrong with A Stars or Teknic, or Joe Rocket. i actually have and use all 3 currently. AStars boots and textile jacket, Teknic race suit, and Joe Rocket leather jacket.
My Joe Rocket textile has held up for a few years now. I wear it on the street unless I am headed to the hills. As far as leathers go I love my KOBE's.

Dainese....not sure I'd ride in anything else....Trusted by SO many! Sidi boots (Hoping for a new pair of Sidi ST's for Christmas) and Shoe or Arai.

LOVE my Under Armour stuff. It pulls double duty with rugby and riding. I have the cold gear shirt and tights (I call them nancy pants) but they work. I feel what you're saying about A*Stars and Rocket. I have a Rocket mesh jacket in a 3X that fits pretty loose. I went to try on an A*'s textile in 3x and it was so snug. Guess I need to drop some more pounds. lol. Love my Sidi boots also.
