I was changing my coolant today and removed all the part's from the right fairing to gain access and noticed when I removed the coolant tank Reserve it's melted like some rock hit it or something (see pictures).
Not sure what caused this but it's very odd to say the least. Going to order a new reserve tank of coarse but trying to prevent this type of damage in the future any ideal's?
Next question I drained out the coolant from the system and recovered 1/2 gallon of fluid does this sound about right? I topped it off with the new Engine Ice Coolant used 1/2 gallon and a little more on the other 1/2 gallon i purchased. Bike is running between 175 to 180 degrees right now. This was the Oem stuff i replaced tho it still look's new I haven't changed it since 2009.
