30 hours around Oklahoma on a bike that meets at least one of the following criteria:

1. Under 500cc
2. Under 45bhp
3. Over 30 years old

I am just waiting for the vacation schedule to post so I know if I can get the time off. Anybody else interested?

When you say "around OK" does that include time spent on the side of the road waiting for bikes to be fixed?

Late 70's Early 80's Honda CB400. You'd have it in the bag.

Sounds like fun to me, half the fun of that rally would be finding and restoring the bike. :)

hell, a CB750F would kick ass. maybe I'll get my '74 together in enough time.

My plan right now is to use Ruths Blast for this. But I have been shopping for a replacement so that may chage.

Figure you will need to cover 1000 plus miles to rack up enough points to be a finisher in the rally. Probably need closer to 1500 to be a threat to win it.

The winning rider gets a entry slot for the 2013 or 2015 (riders choice) Iron Butt Rally.

I ran in the first Hopeless Rally back in 2002. 8 riders started and 4 finished. (I did finish. 4th place with a bit over 1100 miles in 24 hours.) I thought it would be cool to do it again 10 years later. I have no plans for trying to win this thing, I just want to go have fun. I plan to ride to OK on the 4th and 5th. Run the rally on the 6th and 7th. Ride home on the 8th and 9th.

1000 miles on a blast.......good luck standing up after that.Done it before. Last time I rode from Columbus to Huntsville on Friday. Left Huntsville at 7am on Saturday, rode to New Orleans, Memphis and back to Huntsville by 7am Sunday and then rode back to Columbus by Sunday evening. That was on a stone stock Blast. This time I have a windshield and Corbin seat. :)

I could take the wife's '74 CL200 Scrambler.

Started prep last weekend. Put a new exhaust pipe on. Experience says that they are only good for about 10k miles and I did not want it to fail just prior to or during the rally. I will change the carb boot and put new tires on in late May or early June. Probably put in new wheel bearings at the same time.

Thanks to the resident office jackass I can't schedule my vacation for this.

How about Ed's Last Resort Rally in Surrency GA the weekend of May 18-20? Anybody interested in that one?
