LOL....Damn dates are running together in my head...I can't keep up!

I want to do Barber this year, but think I'll start on the cheap for now since I need to buy some rubber and supplies!

BTW...And I know this can be a sore subject....But having not done either X-Act or STT...can anyone justify the additional $50/day to do Barber with STT vs X-Act? Just wondering.

I've done both and they are super safe and fun. Safety, safety, and more safety. Derrick was a huge help at Barber (for STT) and Todd helped me last year at Tally with Xact. Nothing but good things to say about both. No membership for XAct tho! :D

Looks like no membership required anymore for STT although they do offer a 10/day discount for members.

Stevesteve i ride with both groups and enjoy both groups. there things i like and dislike about both, but nothing that would cause me to NOT wanna spend my $ with them. each org has to charge what they deem necessary to turn a profit, so for me, if i can afford the date, and it fits the schedule, i'm there. now, when dates are close together, and one is cheaper, i will probably run the cheaper date. this hobby is expensive enough, so having choices is a good thing.

Just a bump to remind everyone of Tally this weekend and to also let you guys know:

I have 3 sets of UK Dunlop takeoffs. First come, first served.

2 sets are slicks, 195/55 rears, medium compounds. Rears are still good for a couple of trackdays at intermediate pace, and the fronts.....well, the fronts are still like new, they last friggin forever, medium compound on those as well

1 set are DOT's with a 200 rear. Again, good for a couple of trackdays at intermediate pace. I rode these on my 600 and didnt change a thing on set up, and they do fine on the 600. I couldnt tell any difference in handling between these and the slicks. Physical size of the 200 is almost identical to the 195 slicks.

I will have them at Tally this weekend and just want to get rid of them. Gonna try something a bit different this year.

If you want them, blowing them out at $50/set. If you want just one tire, still $50, i just want to get them out of my garage. Most of you guys know my take offs are worth $100/set easily as ive sold plenty here, and if they werent worth riding on the track, i wouldnt sell, i shitcan them.

So, if you wanna stop by the old tower where we'll be doing tech, i'll have the tires there if you want to look at. If they dont sell, then when i bring them home, and put up pics of them at that time so you guys can take a look. Price will be the same, you'll just have to come to the house to get them.

I also have a set of the Dunlop NTEC GPA AMA spec tires. These are the brand new for 2012 AMA tires, just bought them last week. They are DOT's, again, brand new for 2012, the the front is actually comparable to the UK NTEC's, its THAT good. The rear, tho its not the UK version, is still MUCH better than last years GPA's. The rear is a 190/60 as opposed to the normal 190/55, so the contact patch at lean is much better.
These tires only have 10 laps on them..........yes.........TEN laps ONLY! I paid $426/set for these. If you want them, $300 and you can have them. Again, im trying different tires this year. If they dont get sold, then i'll just ride them before i go to my new stuff and shag the hell out of them.

Come see me at Tally this weekend if youre interested in any of these.

saturday the weather could have been a bit better.. :)

sunday was great. a bit more wind than I would have liked, but overall not bad.

great turnout for the weekend, and at least up till I left, no red flags and very few crashes. most of them were very low speed but since the ground was so wet, if you went off the track at all, you tended to fall over.

Not sure when you left, but about session 4 or 5 a female in the Advanced group got sent to the hospital.

I for one had a great time on Sunday.

It was nice to see some friendly faces and meet some new folks as well. I'd like to give a big thanks to Todd for giving me a warm place to crash and also to Huey for taking the time to show me the track layout and help me with the bike a little!

Hopefully the girl wasn't hurt too bad, I didn't really see what happened, but suppose there was some contact going into turn 3 with another rider.

Thanks to Stickman for the tires...The 003's performed very well and the price was RIGHT!

it was the advanced group, another rider was passing her (she was an entry level advanced rider, on a KTM Super Duke), long time WERA racer was passing her on the outside in the 90's, pass was already made, and it appears she may have target fixated on him. Her left bar hit him in back on the right shoulder causing her to go down.

Last i heard yesterday evening, she was going home last night.

Steve, was great seeing you out there, man!! Youre welcome anytime to crash with me as long as there is room.

I didnt get to do much riding other than the novice group. My valve cover gasket started leaking so i put the old R6 up and rode double duty with Keith Buras. He cr'd in the intermediate, and i took his 750 out in the novice. Still had a good time tho. A weekend at the track is always better than sitting at home.

I am curious, what is a decent intermediate level pace? I did novice because it was only my 2nd track day and my first there. I think I will have to move up, I was doing 12's. Would that be a safe pace for intermediate?

ive got one set of the slicks left, Joe. If youre an advanced rider tho, i dont reccomend them. The front is, like i said, almost new, but the rear would only be good for an intermediate pace for a couple of TD's. Hence why theyre only $50

My take on it is, if you think you'd be dangerous on the track with intermediates...you should ride novice. If you think intermediates would just be in your damn way, you should ride expert. I think for me it comes down to riding predictable more than just fast. I passed a few and got passed by more than a few but hopefully I didn't spook anybody because they didn't know what I was going to do.

Sure is a damn fun time...no matter where you are!

Most embarrassing part of my Sunday was Lee having to find me in the paddock and tell me I was getting bumped to Advanced for passing. Best part of me weekend was Lee having to find me in the paddock and tell me I was getting bumped to Advanced for passing! Hahah
He said none were unsafe just freaking people out. I'd asked about the times and going to advanced but it was so full. Glad it worked out because I got to ride with the "true" fast guys and learn some stuff. I was battling a spinny rear all afternoon and was making rookie mistakes so meet got where I wanted to be but still had a blast. Once I put a lap timer on that afternoon I'd done a 1:04.4 which for a fat mechanic with a fused broken back who doesn't get to ride that much I'm pretty freakong happy with!!!! Id love to drop some time off it but well see if I he another chance. It's hard to ride fast at my own days because I'm working and I can't be the one pushing either.
