I'm going over to see the WERA race Sun at L'l Tally. Will first ride thru Cheehaw Mtn though. Anybody going?
I'll be there in the cage. Going to take care of some bidness as well as hang out and watch.

Seems so strange to be having the first race out there for the season without snow. :D
 so true, John. I remember sitting on the grid one year waiting for the green flag, snow flurries flying in front of my face, my temp gauge on the laptimer reading 29 degrees, and wondering to myself "what in THE f am i doing out here??????????" Then promptly threw the bike down on the third lap overtaking for first place.

It was a beautiful, but cold, ride over and the mountains were awesome but there were hardly any racers. Pitiful turnout so instead of paying $10 to get in I turned around and went back to Cheaha. Was very disappointed that so few racers attended. I don't know how they even had many classes. Still had a great ride though.
They practiced till 130, the had 2 20 lap races. Total of 18 bikes on the track. It was pitiful.

Do you think it being January and the possibility of crap weather made most people not even think about going?
Do you think it being January and the possibility of crap weather made most people not even think about going?everyone, and i mean EVERYONE i talked to today all thought the same thing:
1) A one day racing event is only going to draw people close to the track.
2) most of the racers that live close to the track are not going to come to an event that at the end of the day, theyve not only paid their normal monies in tires, fuel, food, have to spend $100 to practice in addition to the entry fee to race, and with no solo $$$ payouts this year (same as last) and no points races, it just wasnt worth it for alot of peeps to come out, ESPECIALLY when it was 20 degrees this morning when i got there. Yes it did warm up to a balmy 57-60 degrees by race time, morning practice was C O L D as hell!!!
Like i said, they got a shitload of seat time today (those that showed up) and it was worth it to those that showed because with so few there, they got way more laps in than they would have had it been a large turnout. So yea, those that came, got a good bang for the buck.
Everyone was in agreement tho, it wasnt a good decision to have a one day race. Tire vendors there, Pirelli, sold ZERO tires, Dunlop sold 4 tires, and im not sure how many if any at all that Bridgestone or Michellin sold. None of them even paid their fuel bill by coming, they lost money today for sure.
There were supposed to be 3 races today, lightweight solo's, medium weight solo's, and heavyweight. They only did 2 races, lightweight, combined expert and novice, total of 7 bikes on the grid, and then mediumweight solo, with the remainder of the 11 bikes on the grid, combined ex and nov. Started the racing about 2pm, and we were done and out of there by 430.
yea, piss poor turnout for sure.
