Looking to get a daily driver. Shooting for maybe a Honda Civic, 90's model, auto tranny.

Not set on the Honda but definitely something reliable with good mileage. Would be all ears for other suggestions for reliable dailies that are cheap to find.

My current daily driver kicked the bucket and I'm not really in the mood (or have time) for a motor swap considering all the troubles I had with it to this point.

^Not that I'm not interested, but that would be a bit over my budget. This literally came the week after a house down payment so I'm probably going to have to cap anything at $3000 if possible.

Looks like I'll probably shoot for a 92-95 or 96-00 Civic. If anyone knows one available, lemme know. I will probably start hounding Craigslist this week. Shooting for $3000 or less :)

If anyone knows what to look for on these cars when buying one, lemme know.

I have a 2001 Chevy Prizm AKA Toyota Corolla posted here on the classified.
It has a clean Carfax, Emissions and great gas mileage as well.

Great choice. Really the major thing to look out for with the Civics and Accords is price. Those cars are still priority in the Import Tuner world so even a 15 y/o 95 Civic will be on the pricy side. On the Accords 90-93 and 94-97, watch out for a blinking "D4" or S light on the automatic trannies. Could be as simple as the TCU needs replacing or sometimes the VSS may need replacing. Worse case scenario the tranny will actually need replacing, however I have yet to come across one where the tranny needs replacing. This could set off the CEL which, if you are in an emissions county will be a no go. Overall really good cars. I had a 95 Civic coupe for 7 years with basic mods, and then sold it for a 93 Accord that I dropped in a H22. BTW, what kind of car was the last dd?

Hmm, I hadn't looked into the Corolla's but I might be interested. I've been trying to stick with the Hondas but might still take a look at this one. I'll be out of town pretty soon so I might not be able to really get anything until after I return in two weeks. Is that sold as a private sale or through your business?

'98 Olds Delta 88 with the Series II 3800 motor. Car was great up until the past year. Since then the crap I've dealt with has been almost comical, and I'm pretty good about maintenance on it. Unfortunately the oil pump failure has done it in I think.

I know people like to talk crap about Honda's but I am Honda/Acura till I die, lol. Seriously though. I have had Honda's for the past 12 years(2 Civics, 1 Accord and Legend) I bought my Legend with 198K on the clock in July of 08 and have since put over 40K on the odometer in less than 2 years. The only parts I have replaced was a drivers side axle and alternator. Not too many cars I would purchase as a DD with that many miles, but I love Honda's. Good Luck.

PRIVATE....it was my dad's friend car who bought it with 50k miles and had it forever. Clean carfax and extra clean body and interior.
My wife is driving it right now so we might keep it for the next 2 weeks.
Let me know if you wanna come and check it out at any time.
