It depends.
Do you know what you are doing?

If it has a title easy peasy. If no title it becomes a major headache

for the street right?
If you have someone to help and guide you then yes.
There are quite a few threads on here about getting a rebuilt title.

A lot of insurance SALVAGE bikes for damages that are EASILY fixed, such as fairings and headlight damage.
YOU DO NOT want to buy a bike that has FRAME DAMAGE because it becomes more complicating finding a frame with another title.
Now, if you buy salvage bikes with fairing damage, tank damage or whatever, AS LONG AS the frames are not bent or cracked, it should be an easy replacement and process.
If you can check the engine and transmission of the bike, and you want to keep it for yourself then that should be a good way to go.
inspections are between $80-$150 and the inspector comes to your house and inspects the bike and gives you some kind of certificate with which you can get a REBUILT title.
Hope that helps

i have plenty of friends with salvaged bikes, if your getting it to ride and keep it, not selling the thing. then its totally worth it!
you can find bikes that just need fairing replacement and get over 2g's off used one. save lots of money. so its worth it.
as long as theres no major damage.

Salvage Bikes are always tough bikes because most likely the frame is bent. Good luck

WRONG!!!
Bikes are salvaged everyday that do not have any frame damage. Frame damage is a sure way to get one salvaged, but not nearly the rule. Heck even a scratch on a frame will total it out without it even being bent.
These days, bikes are being totaled out for cosmetic and other simple little things. Its actually kind of sad how easy and fast they'll total a bike.
In 08, Sarah and I bought a Salvaged 2008 Ninja 650R with 1k miles on it. Every piece of plastic had some sort of scratch on it, but overall the bike was in tact no major damage. The only thing we had to replace was the bent handlebars and rear fender that was missing.
You can read all about the process and what we had to do over on these ADV threads

BTW, she put 18k miles on that bike over the next 2 years and then sold it for $2500.

My apologies just my experience. I withdraw my statement.

Usualy/often when there is frame damage, the ins company will not even issue a title for it. Will be sold as parts only.
I had a 2005 r1 that was not issued a title because the little tab that holds the fairing stay in the front had broken off.
Another bike was a 2005 636 had a small ding on the frame spar... no title issued.

Exactly as they have stated. I am a dealer, and specialize in salvage rebuild-able bikes, or parts only "Bill of Sale" as the DOR refers to them. Let me know what you are looking for, and I can give you a general idea of what you should be spending.

From my experience in crashing and taking apart and putting back togeher my own bikes, I would say the most important thing to have is patience. Take your time, have a plan as to what parts you need, how much they are going to cost, how long to ship ect. Don't start a rebuild on monday with the intent to ride that coming Saturday (been there, and um...epic fail). Having help is great, especially in the areas you are weak on, but key is to not rush and make sure it is done right so you are not hauling a$$ down the highway and parts fall off, or you are leaned inta a turn wondering "did I tighten my axel bolts enough...."
