given how badly they say its damaged, that they say that there are sections that are closed permanently and that the only real traffic that road sees is, well, us...i wouldnt hold my breath waiting for them to repair it...

They'll fix it eventually but maybe not this summer. But I agree that it would be an epic road with fresh pavement. I have been bitten by the gravelly monster that hides in the apexes of the raceway. It hurts.

Don't worry, they will fix it. They can't afford to wait too long not to fix it.

Last time I went early last year was after was March 7th or so after the late Feb. snow. Great temps but roads sucked ass. Word to the newbies.

The linked story is out of date.
As of May 12, GADOT says May 21 is the opening date across the top.

I didn't make it up yesterday.... Freaking house AC mugged out.

But went up today and the baracade is still up. So we just ran up 75, north of Helen to pick up 180/129 and head south, The rain was pounding so we thought we'd stop at Bogger Hollow and get out of the rain for a few. Turns out some locals have started a deli inside the store. They have some of the best BBQ out there. We pigged out and had a great visit with the owners Jim & Donna. They had only been open 6 days. Booger Hollow is located about 2 miles north of where Richard Russel mets 180/129. I highly recomend this mom and pop shop to anyone in the area.

If they don't open this road soon, I'm going to play in the Highlands area next week.

Confirmed it is is open. Just a bit of gravel where the landslide was where they repaved the road.

It's nice after that part :D

Rode on Richard Russel today. There was a few more potholes, a bit more gravel than normal, and a few repaved areas. Still a great road but definitely deserves respect.
