i liked the M1's, i enjoy my M3's so the M5's are a no brainer especially since cyclegear has them on sale. w00p, can't wait to see how these run at Road atlanta

had my Metzler on for less then a year and there decent can't say it's the best handling tire out there in the market. Can't wait till these are wasted and very likely skipping the M3's on my next set.

I've never even heard of the M5 tires. How do they compare to the M3?

They're new. They have "Variable steel string winding tension (InteractTM Technology) with 5 differentiated zone layout for seamlessly balanced mileage for longer trips, enhanced grip for street-sport riding and maintained precision at maximum lean." AND they have a chicken strip gauge built in. "Innovative lean angle indicator on the rear tread shoulders for measuring your maximum level of usage of the tire." Basically, instead of using different compounds in different sections of the tire, they have fiddled with the belts to control the contact patch somehow.

Matt why arn't you a fan? I used to like these tires as well on my last sport bike. I can't say that on my current set I don't like the handling on them on certain conditions I ride with. Now the new m5 I would have to see if they fixed the complaints I didn't like on the M3

Havent ran a metzler since the rennsport was discontinued! Pilot powers front ... battlesaxe BT021 in rear! Perfect stunting setup! Piot always hooks up for endos, Battleaxe lasts a long time, drifts well and hooks up when i need it to! And is the pefect shape for circles!
You have to find a tire and stick with it if you want to be consistant!

An old thread but thought I'd ressurect for a moment. Any final opinions on the M5? I was a die hard M1 fan back in the day when they existed haha. The profile felt predictable at all angles and the compound was soft enough for my mountain runs. Now that I'm back in the saddle I'm a bit sad they don't exist anymore.

I am curious on the final verdict for the M5 as well. I am a huge fan of the M1's. Matter of fact I have a set on my bike now that need replacing. I knew the M3 existed but the M5 sounds like a great concept as I commute heavily and like to make the occasional run to the mountains.

Get a set of the angle tires. Had mine 2 mo's now love them best traction out there.
