So I decided to get some bar ends since I didn't have any when I purchased the bike from previous owner. I ordered from ebay what I thought was specific Suzuki Katana bar ends. They come and they fit, however I did not realize that the screw that they provided was probably a little too long for the deptch of the bar end. Long story short, I ended up breaking the screw off in the bar end:handclap: and can't get it out. I need to know WHAT DO I DO NOW to get the screw out? I really don't want to purchase a left side bar for that. HELP!!!!!

Do you mean the bar end with the broken fastener is stuck in the bar? If so you could probably just spray a little soapy water in there and stick something long like a screw driver in the opposite end and push it out. Or buy a screw extractor and get out the screw.

No. the screw is stuck in the handlebar and it is a really small screw in diameter. Do the make extractors that small? Because the screw broke, the bar end could not be secured onto the bar without the screw.

They make them fairly small but if it's not small enough you can try and cut a groove in the top where the head broke off and use a flat head to unscrew it, I have done that before. Also you could just drill out the screw and re-tap the hole a size larger or get a threaded insert to get back the original thread size.

Thanks. Don't know why I didn't think of cutting the slot in the top of the screw..maybe small size. But might have to drill out and retap. Do I have to have a special drill bit to drill it out?

No just a good and new one about the same size as the fasteners. Depending on what the fasterner is made out of it could take awhile and you could use WD-40 to help the drill bit.

I guess today would be the best day since it's cloudy with a chance of meatballs.

Just buy some aftermarket clipons and be done with it... stock clip ons suck anyways!

Bar ends add weight. Don't need um.
Drill it out
Drill it out and attempt to remove with EZ-Out.
Leave it and call it a motorcycle tatoo.

LOL. I thought that was the purpose of the Bar Ends was to add weight to the bars to cut down vibration.

You are correct. But, extra weight esp at the bar ends makes the bike harder to transition from L to R. Who wants that? :)

I seriously doubt anyone would notice the few ounces bar ends weigh.

True on both accounts. But also, the bike looks incomplete without the ends and the exposed metal.

Couldn't agree more. Just doesn't look good without bar ends.

You're probably right.
But, just to be sure. Check the bar ends next time you're in the WERA or AMA paddock

Seeing as he's not racing his Katana, your statement makes no sense. Someone who's racing might want to lose as much unsprung weight as possible. But someone who's is just riding on the street, a few ounces on the bars won't matter.

Maybe a plastic bar end?

ok, so I tried drilling out and that did not work. I think maybe the bit was wrong type. Don't have Dremel either. On a side note, i was able to get the garage door working again. No fun opening and closing door manually.

Sounds like it would be easier to get a new clipon for that side if you can.

WERA requires some bar ends, so that there is not an open tube. Steering dampers are also required (and a good idea regardless for a racing application).

LOL, it is looking that way.

I found that the reverse or "left hand" drill bits work better than the screw extractors.
