Heat Sheild in the fairings

Okay so the factory stuff finally just gooped off the inside of my fairings on the Mille...question is do I NEED to have it or can I just not replace it? If I do need to replace it is there a certain kind I need to use?

I bought something like this from a local auto parts store to use on my track fairings, so far so good.

I would say you need it. I don't think the factory would have spent the time and money on it if it wasn't necessary. Probably something like A1 linked will work OK.

Over time the heat will warp the plastic and tarnish the paint. That stuff he posted a link to will suffice
