The Incredible looks like its finally coming out the end of this month. The 29th actually. One of the guys on Phandroid got hold of the actual manual for the phone already! This thing is badass! I can't wait to get hold of this when it comes out. So glad I waited!

Thinking about switching over to Verizon. Is this like the Hero as far as the physical phone? All touch screen? Works like an iphone with the pinching to zoom in and flipping through stuff?

You've got it. The Droid has a physical keyboard also, but since I always use touch screen, I'm going for this model. And its one of the new Snapdragon processors. Its supposed to be seriously stout. HTC has gone through a lot of trouble integrating their Sense UI into everything with the phone and looks like they've nailed it, at least as far as I can tell scanning the manual. From everything I've been reading, this thing looks to be one of the first real contenders to go against the iPhone.

Sweet. It will probably be expensive. Might stick with the BB Tour.

Speculation puts it at $199 with a two year contract (or talking them into an early upgrade). If that is the price and I can get one of my phones upgraded a few months early, which I've done before, then I'll be all over it.

Yea but BB = 2 for $99. :D
How does Verizon upgrades work? Once a year or 1 ever 2 years?

Typically new every two, but I could have sworn once you've been there awhile or with certain account settings, it changes to discounts every one. Going to find out the end of the month. They're actually pretty good about working with you at stores on that. I don't think we've ever gone the entire two years before our upgrades. Being within five months, I think we'll be find upgrading one phone.

The HTC Hero functions similarly to the iPhone.... but truth be told, is still not as good as an iPhone.
I will never buy an apple product, but compared to the Hero the iPhone has a more responsive touch screen and a faster OS/quicker response than the Hero.
The iPhone still has the best hardware, but only by a margin. They still use the best touch-screen panels on the market.

Well considering those of us on Verizon don't have the option of the iPhone, we have to make due with what we can get. The iPhone is far from set in stone on Verizon. It will probably happen, but no idea when. Some are saying it will release as a CDMA while others are saying not until the 4G Verizon network rolls out. Yet another report is saying the production is being held up. So at this point, its still rumors and speculation. I'm tired of WinMo so I'm going to the next best thing. If iPhone ever does drop to Verizon and I'm not happy with the Incredible, then I'll pick it up.

Thought about the Nexus One but too many horror stories about it falling into kinda a gray area on support coverage and people getting bounced all over the place. I'm sure they'll get the fastest update rollouts from Google, but I also prefer the Sense UI interface used on the Incredible. Makes the phone more polished and complete to me. Probably will slow it down a tick, but from what I've read from people that had seen and touched them on the Android boards, its fast as hell even with the Sense UI.

The incredible will be cool. But the hoss and what will really put Android on the map is the EVO 4G on Sprint. And dont sleep on the N1. I have one and love it. Its everything my iPhone wasnt.

Nexus One definitely looks like a great phone and before the Incredible I was going to be all over that. I just really like the Sense format. Can't wait to see it. Also going to be extremely interesting in seeing how the 8mp camera is going to do. I really hope it lives up to the hype.

I see what you're saying. Sense kind of lays on top of Android. The only thing I like about it is the weather widget, which I downloaded (1.50) from the app market. Yeah, 8 mega on a phone will be interesting for sure.

Nothing that wasnt fixed. Hell every phone has issues... The major issue I saw was the dropping of 3G and that was fixed!

Oh I've basically ruled out the Nexus. The Incredible is what I've settled in on. I look the overall implementation of the system better than any of the other Android phones from what I've seen. Reading from some that have actually tested it, supposed to be incredibly fast. Think that its going to be a great phone.

Exactly, Sense is a complete overlay tying the major components of communications together on the phone. That's how it seems a little more finished to me. One piece ties cleanly to another, to another. Reading the manual, looks like HTC really did their homework on this one.

forcing the phone to run on 3g only is not a fix. that's a work around. It's not the only issue with the phone either. Screen calibration and support issues just to name a couple

True, and like I had said, I'm hearing people get bounced around with who will help them with different things on the phone. I figure with the Incredible, its a Verizon phone. Clear cut and done. There have been several mentions that the screen calibration issues are supposedly not present on this phone.

Those are old T-Mobile issues Troy. I have one for ATT 3G and have had zero issues with 3G dropping. Yes, Google doesnt have any dedicated "support" but there are plenty of forums and such to get help. I havent had any issues with mine. And the things I have are nit picky things that I wanted done. Nothing that effected the usability of the phone.
P.s.- If you have a defective unit, HTC will replace it.

Yup, read that this morning. Intending on getting that thing as soon as available. Just saw a full video demo on the HTC Desire, which should be pretty similar to the Incredible, and the full use of the pinch zoom, Sense UI, everything. Man, it looks friggin' nice!

Just pre-ordered mine today. Should be receiving next Thursday. Can't wait to get it. So far initial reviews are looking really good. Would love to go with the 4G Evo, but again, coverage concerns me. I'll sacrifice speed of the internet on the phone until the Verizon system comes up.
