As some of you know I have a friend coming in town who is a rider/journalist for a few magazines in India. We have been exploring all types of options for him to have a bike for his month long stay with me in the US this May. We have looked at renting, borrowing, buying and then came up with an idea. He is looking to buy a barn gem, rat bike to fix up to daily riding condition on a shoe string budget. The bet is: He takes a bike that is not road-able, fixes it, rides it for the month including a 4 day trip with me and some others up the Blue Ridge Mountains to Spruce Knob, returning down Sky Line Drive and over the Blue Ridge Parkway.
I told him he will be riding ***** on the back of my bike and we will end up kicking his down the side of a mountain.
So, I am in the process of shopping for a bike for him to use in the challenge. If any of you have anything collecting dust in the back of a garage that you basically want to have removed, :) send me some info and pics. We may buy it!
Some of the bikes we are looking at so far include; CB's, XS's, TS250's, DT175's,.... We are not looking for anything in particular, just something to keep to the theme of the bet and story.
