Hey all,

So, I just bought my first bike (2006 sv 650). Everything seems great on the bike, but I'd like to get it in somewhere for an all around checkup/service.

I really prefer supporting small businesses whenever possible, instead of 'mega centers' (unless that's the only option).

Anyway, are there any recommendations out there for my area?

Thanks,
Ian

Try Dr dug and yes he is on here. He has serviced my bike and really is top notch when it comes to repairs done right the first time not to mention very honest. I'll be using dug for all my huge service needs and valve work check again.

Another suggestion Is Marmo (Marietta motor sports ) but huey shop is a large mega center vs a smaller shop like Dug. Either way u go there both very good.

Charlie (HFD1 Motorsports) is a GSB member and one helluva motorcycle mechanic with a fair price to boot. He works on and tunes many of the local racers on this board

Have a few shop owners on the board that will do you right. I have only had to take my bike to a shop once and I took it to HFD1. He did a bang up job. Mark (MXtuner) has also given me some great advice and tips with out looking to make money off of me.

If you're in the Gwinnett Area then I recommend OVER TWO CUSTOMS in Lawrenceville.
They do everything fromoil changes to Custom paint.

I guess it all depends where you are located and where you usualy ride to.

I would also agree it depends on the side of town you are on. Marmo gets great feedback as does Dr. Doug if you are on that side of town then definitely check them out. If you are on the east side then check out us, OTC, or even Brian Livengood.

I think Livengood and HFD1 prefer more race tunes , motor builds, and preps than general maintenance.

I think most of the shops on the board have "fair" prices in comparison to one another but there is always an exception i suppose. Definitely recommend to check out the person and shop before making a commitment to them. Most of my customers prefer one mechanic to service their vehicle. I think what sets us apart is our ridiculous availability, 7 days a week and counting.

We'd be glad to help you with your SV. Erik is factory trained on your SV but we dohn't charge dealer pricing. We try to treat our customers the way we'd like to be treated. We are in Woodstock right off I-575, easy to get to!

Mark and Erik at Hyperformance cycles are good people. There is a reason their sticker is on my bike(s). The other shop that has supported a lot of SV racers (myself included) and otherwise over the years is MSP cycles in Decatur. Rod, Brad, Roger, and Brian have all logged a ton of time on these little bikes and know their way around them pretty well.

not really. HFD1 does everything from Harleys to turbo charged busa drag bikes with everything inbetween. Only reason he as well as Livingood do race tunes and builds is because they have the knowledge to do so.

Other than that, i agree with you 100%, depending on the side of town youre on, most of the shops listed on this board are reputable and do good, honest and fair work.

Lots of good shops out there, I wouldn't mind taking my bike to any of those mentioned already.

I take my stuff to Hyperformance Cycles in Woodstock. Mark (MxTuner) and Eric there do good work

Add one more for Hyperperformance in Woodstock. They did me right when I brought my bike in. Actually went beyond what most shops would do.

Livengood Motorsports is the only one I let work on my Turbo Hayabusa. He does all of the engine work and tuning every year I take it down after a race season. He has just moved to a new location in Lawrenceville, GA off Hwy 20. (241 Buford Drive, Lawrenceville, GA 30046 770-913-8340) The new shop is very impressive with a custom built dyno room, seperate engine building clean room, Ultra-sonic cleaning, showroom, etc. Not too mention they are a certified Dynojet tuning facility.

They do eveything there from race engine builds to basic maintenance.
