I am wanting to put frame sliders on my bike, but have tried to read up on them as much as possible.
I like the idea on the extended ones to provide more protection, but, Im concerned of the bolts
breaking off and leaving me with a messed up situation on trying to remove a broken nut out of my
chasis. On the other hand, I like the Vortex becasue the metal would not break off and I can replace the pucks easier, but not down with spending almost $100 for frame sliders.
Any suggestions outside of the $25 ebay deals?

I got the woodcraft ones. Mostly because I liked what I saw in this review. I also like the low profile look.

Don't be cheap. The ~$100 sliders cost that much for a reason. A longer 'extended' slider is more apt to snap in two than one of standard length. I am a fan of the woodcraft sliders.

vortex...I dumped my bike at Roebling and they saved my bodywork from practically any damage...I was in the grass though.

I vote for Vortex but in reality I vote for anything except Lockhart Philips. They saved my bike from the lowside I had, came away with a small (3-4 finger width) scrap on the tail but they wouldn't sell me just the one slider, I had to buy a whole kit. Dave at MarMo said "Should have went with Vortex" I know that now because you can just replace the plastic slider and you can buy just one (I think).

Sounds like its a deadheat between Woody's and Vortex's. I have not dropped or laid it down (knock on wood) , but I want to prepare it incase and do not want the bolts to break off and have to have the bolt bored out. Will either of these stand up to a decent "Lorenzo" lowside?

I've 'used' a few of the ebay specials. They work fine, albeit the bolt tends to bend. they do their job. Now the argument of the low profile vs the long and causing the bike to start flipping in the grass is another issue. foruntally for me that hasn't happened to me.

Woodcraft saved a bunch of damage on my bike. I feared the drilling part but when I completed the install it looked really damn professional.
