Check out the simultaneous blowouts.... or was it a suspension failure?

That's suspension failure. The red bulls have had suspension issues before. Adrian Newey the designer loves to push the envolope of weight savings.

It is weird, though. If you do it frame by frame, you can see something blow apart on the right and the right front turns in a bit, then both sides just fly away. Very strange for both wheels to come off like that. I thought it was a rule in F1 that the wheels are tethered somehow so they can't fly away like that.

they were both blamed as upright failures. supposedly they were testing new materials for the uprights, I dont know if they were composite based or some kind of metal. They have wheel tethers, but they can break. It happens occasionally.

Adrian Newey does like to push the envelope. He is the king of packaging. He can make one part do 4 different things but sometimes at a cost of reliability. He is a fantastic aerodynamicist but an ongoing joke about people who work for Newey is that when Adrian Newey gives you his sketch(he doesn't like CAD), you take that part and make it %20 stronger and bigger.
