It's a Haga replica obviously, and he rode the R7 back then. Most of the bike is custom though, so some things, like the headlights and wheels, had to be improved on over a regular R7.

lol Buell is not dead and gone yet! Erik has started EBR Erik Buell Racing, he still builds three race bike. The newest bike the 1190rr won on the first outing, and had the fastest lap times of the weekend not only against other bikes in it class but also the superbikes. Pegesus Race Team in Germany is fielding the 1190rr. Erik will race his own teams 1125rr at infineon. Here is a link to EBR you can see the rides. http://www.erikbuellracing.com/

Would that be the 600 class? If so, it's a joke. I'm sorry, but no way is it right for that bike to be up against 600cc bikes when any other twin of the same size is in the liter bike class.
Aside from that, your bikes look great.

No, they run against twins up to 1200cc (Ducati, Aprilia, Guzzi etc) and 4cly up to 1000cc. This is the bike we would have seen next year, and the race version is a gound pounder with 185RWHP, 93 Ft Lbs of torque. The Europeans race the SOT and Superbike series at the same time. The 1190rr had the fastest lap to include Superbikes, and won the SOT series (both races) and finnished 2nd to the Superbikes (by .421 seconds) in both races. It beat Ducati 1098r & 1198r, BMW s1000r, Yamaha R1, Suzuki GSXR 1000, this is a real race machine. To go out and win on the first outing, new rider, new bike is fantastic, they will only get faster. I love all bikes, and I am truly awed by what some of them can do, but I just would like to see an American sportbike give the Japanese and Italians a run for thier money. It just amazes me that in this great country no one can build a competitive Sportbike. Well maybe one guy can. So I will root for the American David to win over the Japanese Goliath.

Very nice Wicked! You ever get nervous about your girl riding?
wicked
04-26-2010, 12:16 AM
thanks all.
the only time ive ever been nervous about aj riding was not too long after we got together a few years back. she had an 883, we swapped bikes on a ride back from the mtns (i was on an 05 zx-10r at the time) and she immediately went looking for a sport bike when she got home. shortly after she got the cbr above we went up to the cherohala with my riding buddy (sv1k at the time) and his wife (fzr600 at the time). greg and i have both been riding for over thirty years and are track day vets. greg's a great rider and im pretty decent myself. we go onto the cherohala and figured he and i would go go go and the girls would meander behind and catch up with us in telico. so we open it up and were riding fairly aggressively. after about ten minutes or so i caught a glimpse of aj's headlights in my mirror...right behind me. that made me a little nervous (and a wee bit impressed). oh...and there was the time she high-sided my zx-10, but thats another story :-)
the SHORT answer is no, not worried in the least. shes a good rider, not easily intimidated in traffic or in the twisties. shes got a good head on her shoulders and is a nazi about wearing gear. and she will bow out in the middle of a ride in a heartbeat if she isnt feelin it. shes actually a better, safer rider than a LOT of the guys ive ridden with over the eons ive been riding
For what it's worth...
She has a prettier bike

agreed. having a gal thatll ride on your bike with you is a joy...having a gal that rides her own bike when she goes riding with you is a godsend.
and you gotta love it that instead of being one of those women who say things like 'youre going riding? AGAIN?' or 'do you really think you need to buy the pirellis when you can get the michelins for so much less' she constantly says 'hey, i think we can get a ride in before we have to [insert responsible adult activity here]' and has woken me up at 7:30 on a saturday morning with a grin on her face saying 'im in the mood to shop for gear, get your ass up and lets get going'. im spoiled. i dont think i could ever again be with a woman who wasnt a rider

I too am one of the fortunate ones, I've been riding for years and my wife would jump on the back every chance she could and life was good. Then about 18 month ago she came down with a severe case of bike fever, having been through this myself I knew the only cure was for her to have a bike of her own. After doing some research and looking at a bunch of bikes, I surprised her with a 2006 650R. To date, she has put over 10,000 smile filled miles on it, and loves riding up in the mountains, I think I may have created a monster...LIFE IS GREAT!!!

major. I'm sure it wouldn't have been nearly as difficult with a real workspace & real tools (i.e. hoist) but, with my half-baked setup, it was tricky. That being said, I'm kind of surprised I got it in this quickly ... I need to pick up some new hardware and such but, really, it should all be downhill from here! Once I have it completely bolted in and the wheels back on, I'll probably take another picture ... right now it still kinda looks like a pile of junk. :D

Yeah....thats the thing. Given the amount of work I put into the 500 it will only get ridden twice a year. Once in the spring and once in the fall. That said, if you would like to come with us to HP and rent a bike next fall while we are out you are welcome to spin the 500 around on its fall ride day.

yeah that sucks what happened to your GSXR. hopefully you can get that sorted and put it all behind you for a long time. the 500s are fun for all around riding but i would rather ride my 4 stroke on the track.

keep an eye out for a guy on a yellow 999 w/ white plates. i forget his number but he is a friend of mine who we used to race with. Brook Garman is his name. Nice guy.
Oh and as far as 500s go, this one has your name on it:up:

That thing is sick... I would actually like to rebuild one from the ground up... Get a Basket case for a grand or so and then go to town.... I like the CR's but the Late 80-early 90's KX's have always been my favorites.. I had a 87 but ended up selling it when I got more into skiing... That thing was silly fast as you know... Lots and Lots of fun... Especially on the track in Calhoun off Redbud Rd.

I have never ridden a KX. I am just partial to Hondas I guess. The only Kawi I owned was a 1991 KDX250 and aside from that model being kind of a dud, mine was especially a basket case and the outcome would have been the same regardless of the brand but that kind of soured me from Kawi even though it shouldnt have I guess.
