Hey guys,

I need to buy a new suit for my upcoming races. I don’t wanna spend thousands of dollars for a suit. So I actually need one below 1000. I came across this website where I saw this “Monza” leather suit for $799. It s actually cheaper than I expected so I would like to have your opinion before buying…
You can see it here http://www.agvsport.com/One-Piece-Racing-Suits/Monza/Monza.php
Thanks
Andy

I picked up my one piece back in '04. At that time there were two tiers of suits. There were cheap suits below $600, and expensive suits $1000+
I didn't want either. I couldn't afford the $1000+ suits, and I wanted something I could crash more than once without having to replace it. Also, there were suits in both classes that had leather too thin for my liking. I settled on a Kobe Talon (old model now). I paid about $700. I feel confident saying that it saved me 100 times that amount in medical bills and pain - I left lots of it in T2 at JGP. I also own a Kobe Carbonstar, but I haven't crashed in it yet (and will never have the chance if I don't loose some weight :D ), but I'm confident it will take good care of me. You can try on a set at MarMo. Tell Craig that Steve sent ya.

About your AGV's, I've never crashed in those, so someone else will have to chime in.

I'd look at Kobe Suits at Marietta Motorsports or even the Teknic Violator suits. They have amazing reviews for the Violator suit.

For $800 you could get an Alpinestar or Dianese suit.

She said Laguna but the OP might not know who makes the Laguna. Also theres a bunch of A* suits at or below that price, especially if you know where to look.

I like Teknic stuff. This is a good move for MarMo but I still like the Kobe for a budget suit. I'm leaning towards a Kobe or an entry level A*.

I love his review videos but has he reviewed a bad product yet? Seems like they use the same leather thickness as Alpinestars. I wonder how the quality is. Is it heavy?

One more point. Try stuff on. Even better, try it on and sit on a bike. If its a little tight in spots it'll stretch out over time - especially if they get wet a couple times. My Talon made my knees red for about six months - I would wrap my knees with ace bandages to keep them from rubbing. Today, I don't notice any tightness at all. On the other hand, if they're a little loose in spots, that's not as bad as some people make it out to be (all the top rider's suits fit like gloves - cause they're all custom made.) Of course, if they get so tight the zipper wont go up... Time to see Jenny Craig :D

The only true review to give a suit is to slide across the track in one.. Brian didnt wreck that weekend... Yes it is basically made in the same factory as the Heins was in Pakistan so I am sure it weighs about the same... Thick leather is good...

True and true.

BTW, I have no idea what either of my suits weigh, and I could care less. Maybe during an endurance stint (:45-:60 minutes) a really good rider might notice. But, even then, I've watched/crewed several endurance races. Never heard anybody complain about the weight of a suit. I have seen a couple of people get pissed cuz they ripped a seam though.

Never heard anybody complain about the weight of a suit.

I only inquired about the weight because I want a good heavy suit.

I've got a Teknic violator and love it. Bought it New from a guy who didn't like the fit for 350 off of CL. Cannot beat it. I had a kobe prior to this and loved it as well.

Didn't he have one on at Barber last month? I thought it looked pretty slick with the legs of the pants going over the boots. Dude was quick too.

if you get up near chattanooga southern honda has a size run of the new Cortech one piece suits in stock that you can try on. $570 retail, good thick leather (1.2-1.4mm) perforated, aero hump, nice liner, Ce armor, etc. The parts manager there has one and really likes it. a bit more "american" fitting. :)

but really you just have to try a few on and see what fits. not sure who locally has anything in stock besides Marmo and the Kobe suits. iv'e got one but I always have to have my suits altered to fit.

Cortech suits run completely unlike any of the others. If I remember right the reps said it runs big.
