So I haven't been up to the mountains yet this year, nor have I been up with the R1 since I got it .. add to that the fact that I'm off on Friday and the weather looks splendid, and I think it's high time I head up that way! Anyone care to join in on the fun?

I'll be heading up from the Decatur area, not sure exactly when yet but am thinking late morning (but that's certainly flexible). Post up if you're interested!

Dave

Cool deal, just let me know.

And it now looks like I'll have to be back by 3, so I may bump the departure time to mid-morning (but still late enough to miss stop&go traffic).

Not a problem w/me. I generally don't go balls-out and certainly won't be pushing it on the first time up w/a new bike.

OK, here are the details for tomorrow:

I'll be leaving Decatur at 10am, should be at the Chevron @ 400 & 60 (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=400+%26+60+dahlonega,+ga&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=60.806372,93.691406&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Georgia+400+%26+Georgia+60,+Dahlonega,+Lumpk in,+Georgia+30533&ll=34.468584,-83.967487&spn=0.007899,0.011437&t=h&z=17) by 11. So anyone interested in joining in, be at the Chevron around 11am tomorrow (friday) morning! (or I'm happy to ride up w/anyone leaving my area, too)

That was a lot of fun guys. Great to meet you Alicia, Matt, Paul & Dave. And good to ride with you again Drew. And, Alicia, FWIW I didn't actually mind getting stuck behind the cars. Gave me a chance to enjoy the scenery.

Oh, and btw, on the way home I stopped by Atlanta Motorworld to ask about the stalling issue. They adjusted the idle upwards a bit, but attributed the issue to bad gas. Apparently a fair number of bikes are having issues currently - the heat + ethanol in the gas are believed to be primary culprits. They threw some blue stuff in the tank (advertised as "cures ethanol") and the bike purred nicely all the way home, despite the high temp. So maybe there's something to that theory.

It was great meeting & riding with all of you as well, thanks for coming out! And as frustrating as those cars were at times, at least nobody went down or made a non-tax-deductible 'donation' to the county/state gov't!

And Nick, let us know how the 'blue stuff' works for you ... I've been leery of ethanol but hadn't experienced such drastic effects as yours (and I can see how that would get old rather quickly :)).
