So what's considered high mileage on a bike? I'm thinking about selling my Kat for an SV 650 and found one on CL for 2800. Thing is it has 27000 miles. Instill in me your wisdom o Jedi Masters. lol
Here is the listing. http://atlanta.craigslist.org/nat/mcy/1708195385.html

You'll probably get a wide range of answers to this. I'd say anything over about 6-8K per year is high for most bikes.
But if somebody does a lot of long rides, a bike can easily accumulate 15K per year and, with good maintenance, not really show any excessive wear.
That SV is about due for it's second valve check (every 15K). Steering stem could need service by now. Maybe wheel bearings. Good thing is, there's tons of maintenance and parts info out there for SVs and they're very easy to work on.

There is nothing wrong with that mileage on that bike. There will be plenty of life left in it and i'm actually more opted to go for a bike like that since you know the owner most likely stayed on top of maintenance. Since most of those miles are highway miles, they are less likely to be track or harder mountain miles. Bikes that are 6 years old with very little mileage are usually the ones where things get neglected and old oil stays in the bike for long periods of time or the bikes were only used on very short and hard trips.
Bikes like that seem higher mileage is so many people hardly ride some of their bikes, but these days, motorcycle engines are more then capable of going the distance. We've seen that with Jarid's F4i with 150k+ and Kith's Vstrom 1000 with 160k+. Plenty of other people have gotten their bikes well over the 100k mark also.

ive seen alot of people claim 20k+ miles as high mileage, but like Dan put theres a few guys on here alone with over 150k miles on their bikes. When i look for a bike to purchase used i look for anything under 10k miles. i average 10k+ miles a year myself though.

I agree w/Dan as well, that bike's mileage is not a concern. I had (a few bikes ago) a '94 CBR900 that I bought with 37K miles and wound up selling a year later with 44K ... it never skipped a beat or showed any hint of the accumulated mileage ... it's all about the (quality of) maintenance, regardless of mileage.
