I just finished the MSF RiderCoach Program, and met quite a few personalities along the way. One of them turned me on to what might be the weirdest damn thing in the world...

...using furniture polish on bike.

I thought he was kidding at first, but he quickly assured me that it works. No water, soap, wax, special cleaners- just Pledge Lemon scent furniture polish and micro-fiber cloths.

I thought about it for a good bit, and figured what the hell. Went to Wal-Mart, spent around $9.00 total on a can of Pledge and a small bundle of micro fiber cloths. The bike had all kinds of grime on it from being trailered for 6 hours from Tampa to Savannah. He assured me to just spray and wipe, spray and wipe, spray and wipe. So I did. OMG the finish is insane! My bike is a black-on-black 07 GSXR 600, so it shows EVERYTHING. I could not believe how quick and effortless the whole thing is. I doubt I will ever use a hose on the bike again.

It works on paint, plastic, seats, triple trees, calipers, wheels, WINDSCREENS, and even the DAMN MIRROR GLASS!!!!

Again, this is the weirdest damn thing I have ever heard of. Give it a try!

I have used quite a few cleaners on quite a few bikes. But at 10 bucks for a giant 3-pack (Sams Club), you cant beat the price!!

For the love of GOD, keep it away from the actual tires!

It is the original Honda Polish. They made it for Honda for years and then Honda changed companies. New label, same great stuff.

orginal bike spirits is the original honda polish formula before they had to change it for cali. The original was made by plexus I think and had the honda logo on the can. What you buy as honda polish now does not have the honda logo on it and is the re vamped formula

Do you think you can use it on matte finishes?

Mongo
05-17-2010, 11:50 AM
Um, why would you want a shiny matte finish? Kind of an oxymoron.

To clean it and make it a Satin Finish!! It works for that too!

This. Not to make the bike shine but to clean it.

Mongo

Soap and water is cheaper, if you're not looking for a shine why waste money on a polish?

TroyBoy30
05-17-2010, 02:17 PM
because it's easier. I'd rather use original polish on my flat finish than use soap and water

I'm sure I've heard in the past that it is the same thing as Honda Polish with the lemon scent added. No scientific backup for that at all - just a commonly repeated claim that circulated when Honda quit selling it.

TroyBoy30
05-18-2010, 08:25 AM
honda didn't quit selling it, they changed to formula to comply with CA. You can find the new stuff at any honda dealership. The original spray cleaner is simply the old original honda polish formula
