Why is that...besides some of the salesmen being doofuses?

Haven't been there in a while, but it's a great place to see and sit on a lot of different bikes.

I cant stand wow as well...bikes might be hot (as in stolen, salvaged), the preowned bikes maintenance isnt taken care of, and many other negative things. I would go with friends but i personally wouldnt go by myself...Just my 2 cents....

lol. You make it sound like a back alley or something. Are you sure about the stolen bikes? I dont see how they would sell those and stay legit. They wouldnt take my bike as a trade because it had a *rebuilt title. So I find it hard to believe they sell stolen bikes...

They've developed a bit of a reputation for themselves. I've never personally bought anything there but I've also heard all the horror stories. I treat used bike dealers like I do used car dealers. Expect to get f&$ked.

Nevermind, I Googled till I found it. It's the Motorcycle place in Marietta yes? :D

I use to go to WOW back when they were near Howell Mill Rd. I have never bought from them, WOW is where I used to go to get my bike "fix" before I had a bike. That's where I fell in love with the ZX7r.

Yep, right off Marietta Blvd. We found them by accident when we went down a side road trying to find a shortcut to Bolton Rd. It pretty much was a back alley.

I was there a few weeks ago and overheard a salesman hard selling someone on buying a GSXR 1k over a 600, because he could grow into it as a new rider.

Yeah, I really wanted to tell the guy to stick with his initial choice, but the salesman wouldn't leave his side. To each his own, but that really got me.

Not defending the salesman or anything, but your job as a salesman is to upsell right? I think we had this discussion in another thread. If every salesman was moral, then they'd sell no bikes. Theres only a few new riders (like myself) that know what too much bike is.

I know, that's why I was waiting for him to leave. Not sure what happened, but I hope he made the best decision for his situation (maybe he's a fast learner). Seems like if he mentioned outgrowing the 600, then just tell the guy to come back to him when he's ready to upgrade. I do believe there were several 600s within $500 of the 1k. That was big selling point, you will outgrow 600, they were priced closely, so you would get more bang for your buck with the 1k.

I love how people are like...yeah, being a bigger guy, you need a bigger bike. lol. I weigh 270 and the katana 600 pulled me around just fine. So outgrowing a 600 sportbike is kind of a myth. I'd save that $500 for some new gloves or Taco Bell or something. lol

Same here, bought the 650 when I weighed 280 and the bike had no problems hauling me around.

Most of the swap meet was junk -- a box full of random clutch cables, 50 side covers to KZ550's, and three top ends to a mystery bike laying in the dirt.

But I did find a very nice V-Strom inside that is within my price ranges. Which makes me really happy -- not because I'll buy it from them, but I know I can easily find it for almost a grand less !

I'm 210 and my 250 gets me around fine. I must admit that I've been looking at the 650 lately. I even found 2 today under 3k.

Well, I'm sure they made a few bike sales from the event.

Actually thats almost not too bad of an idea depending on rider and experience since you can change the mapping to lessen the power output on the newer ones.

I've never been to wow and probably never will.

I dont know. My 600 feels sluggish at the top end. My next bike will be an R1.

Define sluggish Laz?

And I'm glad you're elite enough to never have to go to WoW. :)

You ride with a 1k on your F4i and you'll see what I mean. 600s are quick but you have to wind it out to get going. Maybe I'm just used to it but I remember when I went from my 98 to my 08 I thought it was going to be like going from a Corolla to a Corvette but it was like going to a 350Z.

Its not that I'm too elite to go there, its just that I brought a bike right before I moved down here so I never had too and my next bike will probably be brought from someone on here or CL.

Hmmm. Something to keep in mind. But you have to remember, I just came from a SportTourer (Katana 600) so, yeah, not quite seeing it yet.

Well alot depends on how you ride too. I ride like I want to die most of the time and there have been times when I wanted to go faster faster than what the bike was doing so I thought about getting something bigger. The 600 is still my favorite all purpose (street, track, canyon carving) bike. I dont think I'd take a 1k into the mountains, atleast not at my skill level, maybe after some seat time on one, who knows.

You are right! I completely forgot about this. My cousin had a '09 GSXR 1000 and he always talked about the A, B, C modes, which I assumed were 600, 750, 1000.

I dont know the exact specs on what the different modes put out but I know that all Gixxer models have the selector now. I hear the 600 on the most restricted, either A or C, is a real pig, probably simliar to a 250 in power. I dont think the 1000 can drop down to 600 level but it would be cool.

One day in Jersey I was behind a newer Gixxer 1000. Man the dude riding it was just pulling up wheelies like whenever. I was like man I need one of them!

Well you make it do what it does Laz. In my limited riding career, you wont catch me on a Liter bike at this point. Not my own anyway.

I took all that Crap off... The modes adjust the Mapping and the Fuel Injecting for Track, Street and Rain . I left mine on Standard which is basically open...

Well from the way he spoke of that's what I assumed. But, I don't plan on getting one, so it doesn't matter me. Thanks for the info, though, so now I won't say that anymore.:squid:

Actually thats almost not too bad of an idea depending on rider and experience since you can change the mapping to lessen the power output on the newer ones.

Unique Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (S-DMS) system allow the rider to select one of three fuel injection and ignition system maps, adjusting power delivery to suit personal preference. Using a button now located on the left handlebar control module, the rider can instantaneously switch between the three available maps, which are designated A, B and C as displayed on the instrument panel..

So, by changing the power output, isn't it adjusting the maximum power? Maybe not down to a 600 level, but still.... I actually am interested now.
