You can get a new one at Dicks for $199. The laminate style like this....

Then go to Bass Pro Shops and pick up one of these for under $20.00....

Check there also for a cheap 3-9x40 scope. BSA makes some great affordable ones. I had the scope off my air rifle on my 22 for a while. Worked great.
Hope this helps.

That's a good idea. I want a 22 to shoot cheap and not sure if i want a pistol or rife. Or hell both.

Who me? No, I have a 9mil, 40cal, 45acp, and that would be cheaper to shoot than any of those. Not to mention that you could actually find the ammo for it at a decent price.

Sorry, I should have clarified. That comment was intended for Butthead. If you met him, you'd understand why I said it.

Why, cause he is only as tall as Ralphie?

I've got a Ruger 10/22 that I might part with, but I don't think you'll get your money's worth out of mine shooting squirrels. I built one with a Green Mtn bull barrell and a nice wood floating barrel stock. Threw a simmons scope 10-24 power mil dot on it, damn thing will shoot dime size groups with crap ammo at 50 yards. Nice little gun. When I was really into the shooting, I was customizing that thing, wanted to do a new trigger and bolt, but never got around to it. These days, I just don't have enough time to really enjoy it.
If you really want a fun little plinker, there were some romanian .22lr trainers in the country that shot like a dream with Iron sights. It was a bolt action with a 5 rd magazine. I used to take mine out with the resetting metal spinning target and just plink all day. That gun was amazingly accurate with iron sights. It would be a great squirrel gun.

GSG-5 or M&P15-22. Both are hella fun to shoot.

If you're talking about the Romanian .22, there are a couple on gun broker.

They're fun shooters. Definitely worth $125-150. Unfortunately, when they first came into the country, you could get them for $69.
