Dented Gas Tank, price on repair?

Just trying to increase my knowledge on a few common problems I have seen when I was looking to buy a motorcyle.

I was looking at different motorcycles to purchase and saw one with a dented gas tank, I was wondering if anyone knew roughly the price to repair that kind of damage?

Also , if a motorcycle is dropped and those scuff marks appeared on the engine, is that fixable? and at what price?

Depends on size of dent and location on tank.

Bigger than a baseball from what I remember and in the center of the side of the gas tank.

Also the scuff on the enjines was on the lower part of the engine, but definitely noticeable.

This is the bike Im looking at currently, not sure if it's a good deal or not but I do like the looks at the SV 650.

We fixed a tank similar to that. Also painted the whole bike. Realistic figures would be 175 to 250 to repair and repaint. Depends on the shop.

Thanks, had to make sure I was still coming out ahead of the deal of the dented gas tank, do you know if a dent that big could cause a leak or anything of that sort?

Also checked out the OTC site, wasn't sure what procedure it's called to knock off the scuff marks from when the motorcycle was dropped, or if that is even possible. Any thoughts?

It will depend on how deep the scuff marks are. If they are in the clear coat but not down to the base then you may be able to wetsand and buff out the scratches. Scratches on the case covers can be sanded out and repainted on the bike in most cases.

When it comes to a dented tank , it it doesnt leak currently it wont leak after the repair. Typically a dent is just a dent and there is no hole in the tank itself.
