Sarah recently posted about one of these that place in Suches back in April and it was called Suches All Day. Basically its 500 miles of twisty roads in 12hrs.
Well next weekend there is another Twisty Butt Ride around Eureka Springs, AR. - http://www.twistybutt.com/SFO2010.html
Where: Saturday May 15, 2010
When: Eureka Springs, AR
Hotel: Best Western Eureka Inn
Rider's Meeting: Friday 6PM at the SFO bar
Departure/Return Time: 6 AM - 6 PM
Group Dinner & Awards Ceremony: 7 PM at the Trolley Room
Cost: $25.00
This route will start and end at the Best Western Eureka Inn in Eureka Springs Arkansas. This event is held in conjunction with the FJRForum SFO Rally.
1. There will be mileage verification before departure on the morning of the 15th.
2. POP - Proof of Presence locations will be handed out at the riders meeting. POP is simply several locations along the route, that you will be required to take a photo of along with your bike and its license plate. Digital cameras are acceptable as well as cell phone cameras. The time stamp and date must match event time and date. In most all cases the POP will be easy access and on the designated route. Most photos will be of some historical significance or special location.
To make a successful run of this TBA event please keep a few things in mind. While not overly long in length, its the level of concentration needed for the entire day. This route is unrelenting in continuous twist and turns. Proper preparation should be made much before the time of event. Your ability to stay in the saddle "All Day", brand new or nearly new rubber mounted, a properly maintained and prepped bike, and above all - a properly maintained and prepped mind and body. This is not a ride for the occasional twisty rider or the every now and then weekend rider. To do this ride in the required 12 hour time limit will take a 43 MPH moving average speed. Not to worry it can be done with consistent patience, last year 4 riders completed the 518 mile route in 9 hours that's a good 55 MPH moving average speed.
