View Full Version : Where do you keep your trailers?

Those of you who have trailers where do you keep them if your HOA will not allow you to keep them?
I have a 6X12 v nose that I was keeping at a friends shop for the last year, but he decided to take advantage of my kindness and now I'm looking for a new place to keep it.
One storage place here in Woodstock wants 60.00 per month! The same as an RV due to them just leasing parking spaces. WTF?

Yet one of many many reason to not live where there is an HOA telling you what to do with your property. My trailers are parked at my house.

Yeah, but I actually like my HOA. They keep my neighborhood looking nice. Your trailers are baller and nice but most people do not have the sense about them to keep things looking that way.

there are several options. sell it and get an open trailer that can be stored in your garage or just sell it and rent one each time you need it. you can always petition to change the HOA rule (check with your state regulations that governs HOA - in FL, only takes 20% vote of the home owners to change the rules). also, recheck the HOA rules, most of the time you can get away with it if it's not visible from the street. if parking in the back, the surface needs to be solid (2x4 under the wheel makes it county legal).

$60/month is about as cheap as you are going to find for most storage places around town.
You might find something closer to $40 for the size you got.

I have an open trailer, and built a fence for it to hide behind off the garage.

Good advice, but selling it isnt an option since I require it to fulfill my addiction to racing and being at the track. I'll pay the storage fee prior to selling it. I live in a little starter community so we're not really going to be able to store it anywhere in our back yard.

I know, and thats what sucks!

I tried that, and so long as you don't leave the trailer stuffed to the brim with 2k pounds of construction debris (old flooring, industrial AC unit, water heater, HVAC trash, and a drop in bathtub cut into pieces, old cardboard boxes, and lead pipes) for me to unload the next time I need it you are welcome to borrow it any time I don't need it (ONLY about 10 times per year). However, if you do decide to do that and gouge the hell out of the floor, scratch up the walls, get mud everywhere and leave the shit in there for a month and a half then you and I will have words and we will end said transaction.
HAHA!

I store my boat for $35/mo near Lanier (West side off of Hwy369), and that's COVERED storage. It would be a hike for you, but it is a deal... PM me if you want contact information.

I keep mine in my garage, but I only have a lowly 5x8 open trailer.ha. I do agree with you about the HOA thing, it just takes one scumbag neighbor...

I'll take one scumbag neighbor over a whole board of them telling me everything I'm allowed to do with MY property.

Yep, positive - rather have that next door than live in a hood that is forced to paint various shades of tan - oh wait, make that 3 approved shades of tan...

My 5x12 enclosed v-nose fits perfectly in my garage and if it didn't it would be in the backyard under a tarp

There's a storage lot on Bell's Ferry for $29.95/mo if you don't mind it in the open. It's next to the park N sell just north of the humane society thrift store (north of 92 on the way to walmart).
I keep mine, though, in a purpose built shed in the back yard and tow it out to the driveway w/ the tractor. (no HOA, just no room in the garage). But yeah, screw HOAs.

He's talking about renting from HD, not actually storing it there.

Thanks for the offer. I'll probably just find a place to store it and eat the cost. I could always keep it at out lake house but 6 mile is a haul if I need to use it.

HAHA! You're welcome to use it whenever you want...just don't load it up with 2k lbs construction debris. It looks like the WERA weekends are always before the STT weekends so it should be available for ya.

You can park your trailer inside my trailer.... :Poke: Wait, then I would lose my added garage space...nevermind...
Your bike is in your garage right? Can you keep the bike in the trailer and the trailer in the garage? Or not enough room in garage for the trailer?

We have 10 acres and all are stored right here at home. We have a 32 foot camper, work trailer and race trailer. When we lived in our other place we always had to store them, that was costly.
