"the national rivals radio show (Bill King's show) just said that Mike Slive of the SEC has had preliminary discussions with 4 schools: Miami, Florida State, Ga Tech, and WEST VIRGINIA. "

Got this from the scout.com WVU message boards.

This move would lock the state of FL up in a death grip for the SEC. It would also secure the entire state of GA in the new ESPN contract with the SEC (No more splitting tv ratings with the ACC) The addition to WV would give some of the DC market, the Pittsburgh markets, the Charleston/Huntington market as well as open up recruiting lanes to the Western PA (Where Ohio State and Penn St dominate) area as well as the VA Beach (Tidewater) area that is becoming more heavily recruited. Not to mention, the WVU fan base is one of the best traveling bases in college football.

I for one hope this is true. It would be the most dominate football conference in the country. (as if there was any doubt anyway)

I went to the Auburn game last year with an Auburn fan and my buddy who is another WVU fan. Hands down, the best road game experience I have had! We hit up this little BBQ place right by the stadium that was run by Auburn alum and we (my buddy and I) were the only WVU that in there. The owners come out and talked to us for about 30 min before the game. We had a great time, and great BBQ!

Wish we had not turned the ball over so much, would have been nice to pick up the W.

Sounds like you married a good one! :)

Didn't FSU have a chance to join the SEC in the early 90's but opted for the ACC because Bowden didn't think anyone could win a National title in the SEC because of schedule difficulty?

Not sure? But with Bowden now out, it may be open game. I am no SEC expert, but wasn't GT in the SEC at one point also?

I do have to say that after checking the aubies do have 6 SEC titles to only 5 for GT but of course GT left the SEC in 1964 so the the losers on the plain have had 46 years to catch up and lead by 1 hahahahaha

I seriously doubt Tech would leave the ACC for the SEC. Their attendance has actually been going up cumulatively in the past 10 years and SEC membership wouldn't get them any more visibility or recognition.

I could see WVU making the move.... but Miami just switched to the ACC from the Big Ten, so I would be surprised if they would consider jumping conferences again so quickly.

As for FSU.... well, the Crimi-noles have other problems at the moment :-)

Ah Crimson Turds...How soon we forget how sorry yall were for the better part of a decade...But thats neither here nor there...
I think it would be alright to have WVU...Not sure how a 13 team system would work. But IMHO, I'd rather have Tech. With that said...WAR DAMN EAGLE!!

P.s. - When was the last time UGA was relevant? Like 2005?

Yes. I keep praying that Urban Meyer will let us win one or two here and there, but.... I guess that's just dreamin'. :)
