The only reason for my somewhat re-post is that I have had a few friends join the forum to play my riding picture game and after stepping them through how to post pictures and how to change the settings I'd like a post in the forum to link them to with nice simple easy instructions (without the bunch of garbage from my last post... so please keep this one clean)

Friendly GSB how to:
Post Pictures & Change Forum Default Settings

POST PICTURES:

Instructions:

Option 1) USING ATTACHMENTS - You can upload your picture as an attachment to your post by clicking the Attachments icon. (The picture will be small but you can click to open and enlarge in a separate window once posted... this is not the best option so I'm not going to get into detail on this ... you can probably figure it out...)

814

- Press Preview post to view what it will look like after adding the attachment.

Should look like this...
812

Option 2) Insert image using the Insert Image icon and "From Computer" (For some reason I've noticed this option isn't always there  but here is how to use it if it shows up for you... probably only shows up if you have the latest updated Internet Explorer or updated Firefox)

815

- Press Select Files to browse to your file on your computer
- Press Open once selected on the image
- Press Upload File(s)
- When the picture shows up in your message you can click the pencil on the top right hand side of the picture to edit its size. (I usually select medium then save)
- Press Preview post to view the size of the image (it will not change size in your message box)

Should look like this... (in medium sized)
813

Option 3) Insert image using the Insert Image icon and "From URL"

815

- Go to and register for (its free) an image sharing site (Photobucket is my fav... there is also Imageshack, Flickr and others)
- Upload the image there (there will be an upload button around there somewhere)
- Once it is uploaded ... Click the photo to open it from that site to view it in the large size you want it to appear in the forum.
- Right click the image and select the Properties menu... OR... if on Firefox select "Copy Image Location" and please skip the next step.
http://i777.photobucket.com/albums/yy52/peternaclerio/url.jpg?t=1274296255
- Highlight (select) the full address (URL) (the whole URL including the .jpg extension) and Copy (right click the highlighted selection and select copy)

- Now all you have to do is go to the GSB message you would like the picture to be in and select the Insert Image icon

- Paste the full address (URL) that you just copied from the image sharing site into the address bar. (right click into the address bar and select paste)
- Unselect the "Retrieve remote file and reference locally" box (if it shows up for you)

Should look like this...

--- Option 3.1
(If the picture you want to insert is already on the web somewhere, you can insert it directly into your post by following my above steps after the image was posted on the web)

CHANGE FORUM DEFAULT SETTINGS:

Instructions:

1) You can change your theme on the very bottom left hand side of the forum to the Original (white and blue) if you don't like the dark color. (There are plenty of notifications for this after you register but somehow I didn't notice it when I registered :myfault:)

2) You can change the number of posts per page so you don't have to go page after page on a thread.

- Settings
- General Settings
- Under "Thread Display Options"
- Change "<label for="sel_umaxposts">Number of Posts to Show Per Page:</label>" (I would suggest the max of 40 posts per page)

3) The box containing "Latest Threads"..."New Forum Posts"...etc ... on the right hand side of the page can be minimized by selecting the arrow on the top right. (This is also self explanatory but I'm an idiot and didn't see this either :banghead:)

4) May seem silly to mention this but perhaps some newbies wont know...
- To see a list of all the new posts click "New Posts" at the top of page. (Easy to keep track of whats going on in the forum that way)

And... now for my plug... ;)

5) Play my "Super Awesome Riding Picture Game! (http://www.georgiasportbike.com/showthread.php?2068-Super-Awesome-Riding-Picture-Game%21)"

:handclap:

In Firefox and Chrome, if you right click on an image on the web, one of the choices in the context menu is either "Copy image location" (Firefox) or "Copy image URL" (Chrome). Selecting that copies the entire URL of the image to the clipboard. It saves you the steps of opening a properties dialog and selecting and copying the URL yourself.

Hah oh I thought before I posted (place it in the open forum so it gets lots of views).... and of course give you something to do :)

and in Option 2 I put top right by accidents  the pencil will be on the top left...

- When the picture shows up in your message you can click the pencil on the top LEFT hand side of the picture to edit its size. (I usually select medium then save)
