I never even knew this forum existed until I saw the thread about it tonight. So I'll post a thread. Call it an intro to the gun club thread.

For those who don't know me, my name is Nick. I'm 23, I live in Kennesaw, I work full time. I've been riding since I was 19, shooting since I was... oh, 7 or 8. Started with a little 9 round .22LR revolver that my grandfather had. Good memories at the range. Moved to rifles when I was 10 or so, and handguns at 16. Learned most of my handgun technique from my grandfather, a retired Navy man, a competition shooter in his hey. Big believer in gun safety, never pull a gun unless you intend to use it, never point it at something you don't want to kill, etc.

That being said, I'm finally getting off my ass and getting a GFL (or I may wait until I move and get a license in Florida). What's your favorite concealed carry weapon, and why? I'll be on a budget, I know you get what you pay for, I'll be looking around $450, which I think can get me a decent used firearm in good condition. Revolvers are neat, but I prefer semi-autos. Probably looking at carrying in the small of the back, but I'm a smaller guy, so size is a concern. I'm one of those people that like Glocks. They fit my hands well, and with a little working, I find them accurate enough for personal defense and range use. I'm ok with 9mm, though I doubt I'd ever want/need 15 or 17 rounds. I prefer .40 for its ballistics/recoil combination, though I enjoy shooting .45s at the range. Even shot my Grandfather's S&W .500 revolver... holy effin ess man... I could stop one guy with it... but I'd have the club the rest to death with my less sprained wrist .

Recommendations? Experiences?

With the Glock Shooting Sport Foundation, you can pay $35 and join the GSSF. With that, you get blue label pricing on the purchase of a Glock.

The bottom of this page has the price list.

For holsters, I like Comp-Tac's CTAC holster. It is a little pricey, but well worth it.

Let me know if you are interested in classes. I teach some and the range I sometimes work at has several.

Competitions are fun to get into if you have the time.
