This is my wife's touring bike that we picked up in late 2008 for her. It's a 2008 Ninja 650R (EX650) with 15,800 miles put on mostly by my wife. These bikes have an awesome parallel twin motor with fuel injection that does awesome touring. The one thing with this bike I'm always amazed with is the 50+ mpg my wife always gets with it.
We set this bike up for touring for my wife. The first thing we had done was having the seat redone by Spencer Seat Mods (http://greatdaytoride.com/Home_Page.php). It was shortened a bit so my 5'4" wife could touch better, plus he added the touring gel in the seat. It is quite a comfortable seat, even for me at 6'4", I'm not too bad. Next on the list was luggage racks and hard luggage. We chose the SW-motech setup since you can remove the side rails when not in use and just have the top case. This is the way the bike spent the majority of its time unless we were on a trip. We are leaving the racks with the bike, but no actual luggage is included. On the windshield, we added a laminar lip that does a pretty good job of getting the air up and over your head.
We did buy this bike as a salvaged bike, but the insurance adjuster sure had a heavy pen when they were checking it out. Basically all the damage was totally light cosmetic with superficial scratches all over the bike. (I think the previous owner rode into a bunch of trees/bushes to put all the weird scratches on it as most of it doesn't appear to be your normal road rash type damage). The only things that required replacing when we got it was the rear tail fender, a lever and the handlebars. It was one of those deals you like to find though so it worked out great. The bike had 1200 miles on it when we bought it, so it was pretty much like new other then scratches over it. The scratches never bothered my wife and she knew she'd probably have a few drops herself, so it was pre-scratched for her! We have put 15k miles on the bike with no issues. There are no big cracks or holes in the plastics. Everything is mostly just scratches. I think every piece of plastic probably has some sort of scratch on it, but the majority of them are not bad. The left side front panel is probably the worst. There are some scratches in the tank, but no dents.
Here's the two threads on her going through the rebuild and inspection process and and other threads about outfitting it for Touring.

We did go through the inspection process here in GA and the bike has a "clear" and "legal" title. All it has on it is a little notation that it was "rebuilt". (I have a picture included of the title). Please check your local laws for your state, but here in GA you can transfer ownership with no issues. It will transfer just like a normal title.

We will be putting a brand new rear matching tire on the bike and we have a front tire we pulled off before a trip that still has plenty of life left in it. The current front tire is still good also.
