Thanks for sharing Bill! That is some amazing scenery out West and I definitely enjoy riding out there.

How was the trail overall? Did you find it difficult or was it just mostly scenic? How'd the Husky do?

It is listed as a medium by the 4wd trail book. Most of it is easy, just rough with lots of rock to go over. The two more technical sections are Murphy's Hogback and hardscrabble, the Husky took a nap on hardscrabble, it was about hour 8, I was getting tired, came to one of the tight right uphill switchbacks where there is barely enough room to turn, I took the wrong line hit a 16" ledge bounced off and headed for the outside of the turn (about a 1000' drop) hit another big rock at about 2 mph and stalled. I was over a ledge so no way to touch down, I had a gentle drop to the rock. Since I was alone it was pretty tough to pick up as the hill was so steep, rocky and covered in sand. thought I may have to spend the night out there until someone came along. Finally got it up and going again. But then I was really tired! Must admit I had to rethink the solo riding part during this part. Then once you get to the top it is time to go downhill. Lots of sections are steep downhill to a switchback with a long drop off if you don't make it. So you are controlling speed with the rear sliding trying to pass the front and using the front where there is traction. Not difficult just high penalty if you get it wrong. Then you get to the sandy sections, this is where you see the big DS bikes taking naps alot.

The Husky did great, plenty of torque to walk up the hills and over the rocks. suspension soaked up a lot of the rock work.

It is a long day, 8-10 hours total to do 140 miles. But definately one of the must do if you are out there.

After shooting a bunch of money at it I never came to terms with it when the pace quickened so in the end I recently sold it and picked up a 09' ZX-6. Haven't really ridden the new bike yet so we will see. Spent lots of time on an yamaha R6 this past weekend at road atlanta and liked that bike a lot. The Ducati was one sexy beast though and did not handle bad at all especially with the mods I did, but when the pace picked up I just did not feel right on it. Would of loved to be able to keep it for spirited street duty though and have an R6 to hustle around the track.
