I have started to enjoy skeet and trap sheeting, but the price of shells are starting to add up. Anyone know where i can get some decent clay ammo for a decent price? My Benelli has chewed through most things i have thrown at it but i typically shoot 12 guag 2 3/4" 1oz 8 shot because it has the benefit of working with my Saiga (whenever i find a place that will let me shoot it)

Check out natchezss.com they usually have sales going on. I usually by anything thats cheap for skeet shooting. I like Estate for a cheap shell.

That Winchester Super Target ammo at Wally World is about as cheap as you will find it. You can save money in the long run by reloading depending on the actual amount that ya'll shoot.

Of all the shooting sports, you pick the one that costs the most  Wally world is about as cheap as you can get with any consistency unless you reload.

I'm a really recent transplant to Georgia. We're closing on our house at the end of this month. One of my many hobbies: I shoot competition trap. Where are the good places to shoot (or join) ?

as luck would have it, my trap gun (along with MY BIKE) is in storage somewhere in Alabama. Worse: the movers would not transport anything flammable. So, I drove here from Michigan with my car loaded to the gills with powder, primers, shells (into the thousands), and other stuff which I will not chat about. Being away from all of my hobbies is making me crazy.

how much of an initial investment is needed to try my hand at reloading, how much of a PITA is it , and will I save money in the long rung shooting 6 to 8 boxes every two weeks?

I don't know what they're going for there days, but I have a MEC Grabber. Had it for years and have reloaded thousands of shells with it. Great reloader ...it just doesn't seem to get tired. Paid for itself many times over.

I bought all of my supplies in bulk ...at one of the big state shoots back in Michigan. I assume (hope) I'll find the same here. The only thing that you won't save $ on buying in bulk is lead. I shoot hard 8's. The price on that is being kept elevated by the fact that China is buying up all the loose metal on the planet. Despite that, I can reload a box of shells for @2.09 per box. :)) Hard to argue with that.

Reloading is not hard at all... so easy, in fact, that you can get really bored. The only real hard part about reloading shells is paying attention to what you're doing. I can only reload about 1000 to 1500 shells at a sitting. After that, I start paying more attention to the TV and I drop shot all over the place and I have to stop to clean up the mess ...then I take the hint and go to bed.

Yeah it's a sure enough long haul, but it's fun. It's in an old granite quarry. Some of the stations are set up over the water filled quarries. They have made ladders to climb down to the bottom of some and place the machines down low. It is really neat to be 100 ft. above the water and have the clays come up from the bottom. Lots of cool views there.

I have a shotgun shell re-loader that I would sell. It was given to me and I am not going to use it. PM me if interested.
