Gypsy is a pro at packing the minimum. I shouldn't admit it, but I usually end up bringing more stuff then she does! haha.

I'll tell her to come visit this thread and give you some hints.

It might help to know where this trip is going. And are you camping or hotel-ing?

Think of items that can pull double duty.I usually save a few bottles of hotel shampoo. When empty, you can refill with your own soap or shampoo in a much easier travel sized bottle. Investing in the lighter fabric excercise pants and shorts, saves space and is more comfortable that packing jeans. I usually just have my riding boots and a pair of flip flops for shoes. One set of pajamas that are similar to sweats and can be worn under riding gear for colder weather. Multi tools can take the place of several larger bulky tools. A jacket that is a versatile as possible with a liner and a heated vest is better than taking more than one jacket. The only exception would be if you're heading out west, then you'll also want mesh.

Don't try to pack it all yourself. Your hubby can help carry important tools and other items you'll be sharing. I usually only take a sampling of medicines, a couple tabs of immodium, a couple tabs of pepto, and about 6 ibuprofens. But most items you can stop and get at any gas station or grocery store. But ALWAYS pack zip ties ;)

Maybe you should unpack, take a picture of everything you'll be taking so we can tell you what not to bring.

LOL or maybe we should come over and help. You're leaving Monday?

Thanks Sarah:up: I had to go back and swap out the jeans. I like the idea about the light weight clothes.
The jeans really took up too much space. The rest I was able to roll up and put in ziploc bags. I did pack a pair of flip flops and my bikini...I'm planning on after a long day ride to chill out by the pool. . I'm so looking forward to this trip. I hope we have good weather but I do have my rain gears just in case. How about you and Dan come over for dinner after we get back and we can tell you all about our trip:) BTW...we are staying with friends and hotels.

Yeah, Jeans really suck on long trips. They don't breathe well. Especially under riding pants. And always try to avoid cotton products except with T shirts. The more breathable the fabric, the more comfortable you'll be. I regularly wear jogging shorts under my over pants. More comfy and no one is going to see them under your over pants, so who cares if your T shirt don't match :D

Hmm. I've always found cotton to be the most breathable fabric there is. But jeans are pretty thick usually. If it's hot, I might wear shorts or I might wear underarmor type long pants. Why avoid cotton?

Well its more of a personal preference, but the biggest advantage is that on a long extended trip week+ or more, underarmor and other type of synthetic materials wash & dry much faster & easier. On a pinch, you could wash them in a sink and let them air dry by the next day. Usually we don't bring more then 3-4 days worth of clothes since they just start taking up so much space and you can easily wash synthetics very quickly.

I really do try to avoid jeans at all costs. They take up a lot of space, if you get wet in the rain, they take forever to dry and on a really hot day, they just stick to you. If its a short trip, I will just wear cotton t-shirts, but a long trip, i usually just pack synthetic shirts.

Yes, that's why I sometimes use the underarmor stuff. But I actually prefer cotton other than the quick wash/dry aspect of the poly stuff. My normal package for a long trip would be 3 days of poly undergarments (just so I don't have to wash every day) and some "street clothes", probably jeans and cotton shirts of some kind, for wearing out to eat at night etc.

Y'all be safe and have a great trip. You will have to tell us about it when you return so that I can dream of the trip that maybe one day I will be able to take.
