I'm handy with tools and can drill the fairing, just don't know what mfgr or type is best. Also don't know what color would look best on a silver bike. Suggestions and links to pics or how to sites welcomed.

yup. But what everyone else said: Get a set with replaceable sliders, black will look good (though if you have ANY other colors on the bike, maybe that would look good as an accent too). Vortex comes highly recommended. I have no personal experience with regular sliders, as my GS has SW-Motech crash bars, and my SV has some crazy (expensiiiiiiiiive!) R&G sliders from England to go with the factory lower fairing (Which I don't have haha)

+1, these are quality sliders for the price. Have them on my FZ.

Just keep in mind, whatever sliders you get, IF you do go down, and need to replace ONE slider, that you can actually replace the ONE slider (Vortex, Woodcraft, ect) you can replace just the individual pieces that you need at a fraction of the cost of having to replace the PAIR. Thats why most of us use one of those brands. A new puck is only about $20, compare that to having to buy the SET all over again at a minimum of $40 and up.

I went with the Woodcraft because of the clean look. I drilled the fairing with a homemade rig on the factory bolt and a quality hole saw and they came out perfect. I'm really pleased with the quality. I guess that's why they were 70 bucks.
