I'm on a roll today! I'd like to put a new pipe on my '05 f4i but don't know what would work best. I'm looking more for a deep throaty sound than power. I don't want a loud obnoxious ear piercing sound. If i get a little power boost that's great, too, but not really why I want to add one. Any suggestions on what might be best and where to get it?

You're going to get a pretty wide range of opinions on this one.......pretty much whatever somebody has installed on their bike at the time. My vote would be for Yoshimura, M4 or Two Brothers.

I had a Two Brothers on mine and thought it sounded great. But I don't know how deep/throaty you're going to get on the Honda's I-4. Sounds like you want a "twin" sound.

two brothers would always be my last choice...simply too loud and not that attractive!

I always look at leo, akrapovich, m4 and yosh first

I agree with Troy on this one and having a loud two brothers on mine it's decent yet people here me loud and clear (LOL). About being attractive Ive never heard that one but wouldn't buy it on look's but look at the performace gain's.you pay for what you receive and if it's well designed and with high quality parts thats all that really madders in my book.

With slip ons you're not getting enough gain for that to be a deciding factor. Choose one based on sound and looks

I think I'm going with the Yoshi TRS but I have another question - some pipes are listed as "race" and some are "California" types. I'm sure CA has tighter emission standards and I don't think I want one made just for a CA bike. I'm wondering if this is just how different sites describe the same pipe or are there regular, race, and CA versions?

Race models typically are a "straight through" design that are louder where the CA type models have a baffle that is sometimes removable (if you remove the baffle you basically have a race model at that point).
