Reuters Brings Fauxtography to the Gaza Flotilla
News service, Reuters is back to its old tricks. You may remember during the second Lebanese war Reuters was caught making news pictures look worse than they were with a little touch of Photo Shop
While cropping isnt as bad as making stuff up, it is still pretty shady on their part. Certainly adds bias where it shouldnt be.

Certainly adds bias where it shouldnt be. Yep. It is probably impossible to find a unbiased source of news. But there's nothing new about that.

If it is the reporting organization that is doctoring the photos: unforgivable.
But, we can't just jump to the conclusion that Reuters is doing the doctoring themselves. It could be freelance photographers polishing the photos up a bit in a way to make them more commercial attractive to a organization like Reuters. That could mean making the photo a bit more sexy by adding some more carnage or smoke. Or taking it out, like blood and knives and stuff. If this is the case, the photographers have zero integrity as journalists and should be expunged from the profession.
Of course, you would hope that Reuters would vet the authenticity of anything they publish. But, I can imagine that its impossible to catch many of such doctored photos, there is just not enough time before going to press.

Images will always be cropped. Adding stuff is one thing but cropping is quite another. While this certainly seems a bit shady, you can't blame any party for not taking a 360degree view of everything that was going on....

I take issue with it when it goes against the story they wrote. The images were cropped because they didn't show what the writers wanted shown, not because of space or anything else.

Hence the bit shady bit. Its more of an editorial redaction than a "lets fabricate a story". Two sides of the same coin I suppose. I would bet big money that MOST images/videos are edited in a similar fashion. Just look at the ACORN videos, that was a mix of both.
