LOL, so I know it has been awhile since I have been on the Forums. After the initial "supposed" problems my bike had, everything turned out fine. I have now clocked over 2K miles on my bike in less then 3 mos. Life is good. My bike ends up dying on me. The run down...

The bike is a 2005 Kawasaki Ninja 250F

After work, I turn the Fuel Ignition to ON, turn the key to ON, hold down the clutch and hit the starter. Nothing. Not even a sputter or a turning of anything. Just silence. Okay, rinse and repeat. Very faint, so faint I wouldn't even have mentioned it, but it makes a small noise. Then Nothing. I think it's possible it might be the battery. I ask my boss to jumpstart my bike with his car. THis can be done, if the car is not cranked. We hook the cables, I turn the bike on and it turns over. I increase the throttle, so it doesn't die, and then disengage the cables.

I quickly put back on the seat cover and proceed to try to take it around the parking lot. The RPM's are spiking, and sitting at 8K, even when I am in second gear. I also have no power to my throttling, although I am moving, it sounds and feels erratic. Full throttle does not give me any more response. I take it around the parking lot (big one) and then kill switch it. It does not crank.

I try this 2 more times and get the same response.

Possible battery issues? If I replace the battery would this help or is it another problem?
Thanks all!

Possible battery issue, Could also be a stator / rectifier problem not maintaining a battery charge.

To test. Crank the bike wether it be off a jumpstart or charged battery. Place a volt meter on the battery to test voltage. With the bike running above idle the voltmeter should read 13.8-14.4 volts.

If the battery does read good voltage then the battery is likely bad. If it does not and reads 12 volts or less then you have a charging issue.

Also, do you lock your bike's bars when you're at work? Are you aware that many bikes have a Park setting that is one click PAST lock, which obviously locks your bars, but also leaves your taillight illuminated (for safety purposes, if you needed to park the bike on a roadway at night in a safe(r) manner, for example)? This has been the downfall of many a motorcyclist.

I do lock my bikes bars while I am at work. I don't think I put it in Park setting although it is very possible ( I did this before, yes? LOL) I get at work around 5:30AM so I am not fully coherent. Hopefully this is what happened and not engine trouble. I heard if it's an actual electrical problem, it could be a possible pain in the ass to fix.
