ive been riding for 30+ years and have ridden everything from crap starter cruisers to 80's and 90's 600 class sport bikes to liter bikes. my most recent bike was an 05 ZX-10R that i bought new and rode for nearly five years. great bike, lots of fun and lots of power. so my significant other has an 07 cbr600rr and wed trade off up in the mtns and although my 10R had peel-the-skin-off-your-face acceleration, because of the agility and just how easy it is to throw around the corners her 600rr was actually a lot more fun up in the twisties than my 10.

i was all ramped up to buy an 09 ZX-6R next week when a guy posts an 09 ZX-10R on another board i frequent with 1700 miles and a really good price. so im torn raw power or cat-like reflexes? i find myself on the track and sneaking off to the mtns every chance i get so im really thinking that the 6R may just be the one...dunno.

thoughts?

So you can't decide between keeping your 10R or getting a 09 6R? I prefer 600s. I don't need the power of a liter bike to be honest. I think I do want a R1 but it would be strictly for the street.

I think he found an 09 10r...but from what i have read over at kawiforums...the 09 6r is supposed to be unbelievable as far as handeling goes. The power of the new 6r is supposed to be pretty nice also.

+1. See if you can find a dealer that will let you test ride both. I'm pretty sure that I read that the 09 6r is hands down better in the corners than the 08+ 10r's, but I can't say from experience. I say read up one both of them at kawiforums.

the suspension on the new 6r is unlike any other 600 on the market so far. They put basically race bike style suspension with some kind of rebounding in it that is leaps and bounds better than the others. I love the power of a liter bike but i will never own one. I have always enjoyed a 600 more because it has plenty of power, and its all usable on the street. The liter bikes are just raw power that you dont need, and for me would just keep me in trouble with the local law.

i got black, or as my buddy calls it 'the darth vader edition'. same deal with me...picked mine up at atlanta motor world and they gave me an unbelievable deal. i have 250 miles on her (this weather is pissing me off) and even coming off of 5 years on a zx-10r all i can say is 'wow'...kawi seems to have really gotten it right with this bike...

great choice, i didnt care for the blue color. I called atlanta motor world and all they had left was a monster edition which i didnt want and they tacked an extra 400 for it bc it has monster stickers and a green seat. They were atleast a grand or more higher than what i paid when i called and got a quote, granted i drove 4 hrs to a dealer in savannah for what i got.

the weather is irritating me too, i want to see what this thing can do i am hearing nothing but great things.

sounds good, Hoping this nasty weather will be gone in the next few weeks. Im ready to hit the mtns. If it would stay sunny and get over 60 degrees i can have this thing broken in in a week.

Nice bike. You should get a lot of great miles out of it.

If you're basing your opinion on an older ZX10 (or any 5 year old liter bike), any new mid-size bike would be amazing.

so youve owned a first generation zx-10r? while the power plant on the new 6 seems to be all that and a bag of chips it still has nothing on the time-space continuum bending power that my 05 zx-10r made.

Didn't own one but have ridden them. The handling of any new generation 600 is light years ahead of any 5 year old 1K. I thought my 1098 handled well until I bought a new R6. The difference was sickening. The Duc handled great. The R6 handled unbelievably.

Sucks that road is closed down for now but it means it should be open later with fresh pavement if we all cross our fingers! LOL!!

I can also understand going to Savannah to get the best deals on a bike! I made my last two purchases at Honda/Yamaha of Savannah and could not be happier with the deals I received! Saved me a couple THOU on both purchases.

there are parts of it that are "closed indefinitly" and there is "currently not a schedule for repair." Given the amount of traffic that that road actually sees (outside of us hooligans) im thinking itll be a while...

may want to check this out...
