Looks like Spies might get on the box this weekend... Practice was weird with the wet stuff moving in at the tail end of it.. His Interview was interesting and I think he might do well after some gearbox changes... Cant wait to watch qualifying in the AM!

I would like to see him podium, but I think no's 1,2,3 and 6 might disagree. Hope you are right.
He hasn't quite passed from superhuman to alien.

With Rossi out and the whole grid on equal terms in regard to (no) set up, it's Ben's best chance yet....keeping my fingers crossed for a good qualifying.
I'd still say Lorenzo is the man to beat, and I think the rivalry in the Repsol team will keep both Dovi and Dani pushing hard. I imagine we'll really start to see the times drop tomorrow once everyone's got their head around the track a little better. Let's hope that Nicky and Colin can improve with a few more laps.

Wild crash by Pedrosa at the end. Bike dumped him, ran over him, then kept going and t-boned the fence. Watch for videos of it. Definite highlight footage.

Wow... Good stuff.. RDP was on top but got clipped at the end by Lorenzo... However is is very funny to see RDP on a NON FACTORY Honda beat both the Midget and Dovisio from the REPSOL Compound...LOL... Pedrobot had a lowside at the end as well as RDP... You need to see Pedro's bike ride over his leg and ghost ride to the fence..They took him out on the stretcher but I think he will still race... Only Lorenzo from the front row was in the press area.. He was like WTF... Where are the other 2...Camera footage from bike was great...
Hayden 5th, Spies 7th, and Edwards 10th...

Randy has always been fast...when he could keep the bike on the track. ;)
Ya'll might remember that earlier this year he said tha this goal for this 2010 was to finish every race. Looks like his new approach may be starting to pay off. (Either that or the track day he did at the circuit last week! )
Seems like the dodgy surface is catching folks out. I really hope that if the pace picks up during the race that we don't see a lot of crashers!

Yes but its a new Layout and surface for everyone... They did say RDP did a track day there 8 days ago... Thought that was Ironic... Its a Moto GP Rule you cant do an event there 7 days before a Moto GP event at any track...

...and yeah, the track is the same for everyone...just like the (looking dodgey as well) weather!
Also interesting that because the circuit is so fast, the tires and brakes are both cooling off on the straights.

Well, actually
The Spanish z has the same sound as does the c before an e or i. So in most of Latin America it has an "s" sound, and in most of Spain it has the unvoiced "th" sound.

Yeah Wally..another good example to watch the MotoGP race in Jerez and see how they pronounce it. I had to think of that because at first, I was like, does this guy have a lisp??
BTW, I don't think the UK announcers pronounce it Lorentho.

I'd rather they were accurate but that's after decades of listening to announcers butcher names :D It's the same idea as Xaus is really Chowse not Zowse.

Very exciting race for 2nd! Gutted for Nicky, but I think Ben needed a good result this weekend and thrilled to see him on the box!
Dissapointed for DePuniet, but despite his speed, I had my doubts that he could string it together for the whole race. I hope this helps him take a step up.
I wonder what the battle at the front would have been like if Casey hadn't have blown the start? If Dani had not him up so long (and btw, how 'bout Dani's new found fighting spirit?!), he looked to have had the pace to challenge Dovi for second despite coming through the first turn in last place.
Interesting season...Nicky beats Casey/Dovi beats Dani/Spies beats Colin...again.

Stoner had lap times to keep up with Lorenzo from about the 10th lap on. He was faster on some, slower on some but generally within a few 10ths of each other. Stoner had one 2:03. Lorenzo clicked off 5 in the first 7 laps, then settled into steady 2:04s. He seems to be one of those guys that can put .5 on the field whenever he needs to, then back off and hold the gap.
(About Lorentho, it is true that the brits that do the broadcast on line pronounce it with a good English zeee sound. But "th" is the correct pronunciation, technically.)

Fun race to watch. Was very cool to see 2 Americans battling for a podium spot. The pass that Spies put on Nicky was very nice. Couldn't believe how fast Stoner was at some points in the race. Now if someone could have done something about Jorge (Georgie, Whorehey, however you want to say it) and tighten things up front, it would have been a great race.

De Puniet was on scintillating form but stayed in character by having a high-speed crash in the closing minute trying to wrest pole back from Jorge. Last week Randy scared the customers at a track day by turning up and joining the fast group, leading to some seriously trashed egos. Randy said some of the punters got a bit excited so he parked it early.
