They failed to advance out of their group...coming in last behind New Zealand (ouch!).

This embarrassment will probably affect all aspects of Italian life for the next few weeks (no, I'm not joking)

There's a *marked* difference between being a from-Italy-Italian versus an American (especially a southerner) that happens to have Italian blood.

I haven't ever met one single person from Italy who was indifferent about soccer in general, or Italy's national team. I am sure such people exist, but they are few and far between.

I beg to differ.. My point is if you wanna say "soccer sucks" cuz all players "pretend" to get hurt, how about you come play indoor with us and get face slammed into a concrete wall a few times and come out and call it gay then?? Yeah I don't think so tough guy..

Rugby is rough no doubt, but quite frankly, its retarded... But then again, I won't be running my trap when the rugby world cup is going on either.. So take a hint and stay out of threads that you have nothing to contribute with other than mindless drivel..

I'll admit the stadiums may be over kill.. I did hear that 2 of the stadiums built were allegedly designed to have rugby full time once the WC is over.. And yes, South Africa still has a world of issues, but I think the WC has been great publicity for them and I would hope has brought some much needed money to the nation.. Hope its not wasted.

On a side note, the quarter final games this past weekend were insane.. Even for the soccer haters, the drama was intense with both Brazil and Argentina going down... Argentina got slaughtered really.. And the Ghana free kick debacle??? Unbelievable..
