I've found a way to get a track bike. I'm going in partnership with a friend on a 2000 GSXR 600 basket case. Supposedly all the pieces are there but some misc nuts or bolts might be missing. I'd like to have it together so I can ride it at Barber on July 10-11 in a few weeks. But, I need help putting it together and a place to do it. I only have a carport and normal hand tools but no torque wrench or manual.
I have Tuesday, Thursdays, Fridays open as well as the weekend.
Anyone care to volunteer to help put it together or stand behind me and make sure I don't screw it up?
Thanks ya'll, Joe.

Jaco, thank you for the offer. I only need a place long enough to put it together with someone watching me to make sure I don't screw it up. I've never done any work on a bike except taking an engine out and replacing the rings on a 1976 Honda 750 four and rebuilding and then syncing the carbs.

01-03 600's are good bikes ;)
The first mile I put on my GSXR was at Barber after fixing it from a previous owner's crash. Was fun until a case bolt backed out and I spewed oil on my boots. My suggestion: Make sure everything (and I mean everything) is nice and tight, even if you haven't touched it ;)

I know what you mean.. i have only done basic stuff with my bike.. taking it apart doing basic maint and such on it... offer still stands and ill even let you know when i get my jeep out of here.. it could be a start.. i hope you can find someone with the experience needed to get her up and going..

I have the basket case in my possession now. I just took it to Skip to look at it and he said he didn't have time.
A shop would price the bike out too high so I've got to find help putting it together, either pay someone to do it or help me do it, or part it out. Any suggestions on prices if I do have to part it out? I have a SC Sheriff Department - recovered stolen and abandoned "Frame Only" Notarized paperwork. I was told the frame and engine are worth $600 each. I also have full plastics for it. Or, should I sell it together as a parts bike?
2001 GSX-R600 with about 4,000 miles
I know it has sat for 4-5 years, needs a radiator and left clip on. Everything is in boxes and the bike was roughly put together to make transporting it here easier.

How much for everything?

My buddy will let me ride his 05 600 but I want to ride something that is mine at X-ACT Tally in October and some STT events later on in the year.
I just don't know the real value. Everyone I talked to so far said if I sell it then I would need to part it out piece wise since I would need $1200 to finance another one.
I figured if I put $$$ into this one I would have a new 2001 bike without future headaches - just the pain to put it together now.
Any suggestions?

If the parts are there I can put it together....Is the engine good? Have you heard it run?

Get the basket case to Marc here. He will put it together and if everything is there and in working order, it will run when he is done.

Never heard it run, my buddy totaled the bike at Barber which bent the frame - that and a crazy wife that finished it off.
I'd like to have you look at the bike to give me a price but I'd love to help (if I won't be in the way of course). I know it'd be fair. PM sent
I know it needs a radiator and left clip-on and some misc bolts/nuts and the fairing stay id tweaked (but can bent back)

PM Sent... I will call you in a few....
Get the basket case to Marc here. He will put it together and if everything is there and in working order, it will run when he is done, as long as it doesnt have a vortex case cover. ;) inside joke.

Does anyone know what I call the switch/relay that is located at the end on the right ram air tube? Doug said the bike won't run without it and a new one is $75 ( I didn't grab a picture before I dropped off the bike).
Also, I found a left clip on for $40-50 - is this reasonable or a deal? I'm looking for CHEAP.

success, Doug told me its called a "Fuel pump relay". .and its on top the the right air horn.its on the Suzuki parts .but its where the turns signals are listed.not in electrical.
Sooooo, I need a left clip on and a Fuel Pump Relay and that should button it up for missing parts.

Messagefrom Doctor Doug:
"I got the front end rebuilt. Pulled the steering head bearings.cleaned them and Greased those suckers up good with Bel-ray Grease. And temp.put the left clip on for moving around the area. Forks are straight http://blokessportbike.com/images/smilies/thumbup.gif
Got the front brakes on and working PROPER! http://blokessportbike.com/images/smilies/thumbup.gif with that i finally got it up on the lift today. I'll get the motor in it's home snuggly next. Its starting to look familiarhttp://blokessportbike.com/images/smilies/cool.gif"
whoo hooo. Now if I can find the left clip on and Fuel Pump Relay I can ride it when he finishes.
