I want to put new front pads on my '05 CBR 600 F4i. I don't know what brand I should use. I just did a track weekend and plan on doing 2 or 3 a year, so hard riding won't be an every weekend thing. I felt some fade in the brakes after the first day and it's still there. I'm not sure what's on it now - most likely stock. Any recommendations on what brand or type to use? Should stock pads be good enough and a little fade is normal?

EBC HH's sound like they are a good fit for what your looking for... If your having fade issues it might be your lines.. Are yours stainless or Stock?

Versah RJLs is what I'll be getting with my Spiegler lines. Also I've also heard good things SBS pads. Don't get the double sinitered though. I think those are for racing/track bikes.

+1 on the EBC HH compound pads. An improvement over stock without haveing to get the pads hot before they start to work well like some race compound pads.
FLush your brake fluid with some *good* fluid to address the fading issue. Motul makes two good fluids- the RBF600C is very good- so is the Motul 5.1 for about half the price of the RBF600C.

+1 on the RBF600. Thats what I"m using now and will continue to use. Its pricey compared to some of the others though.

I have stock lines. The entire bike is stock. I haven't had any changes in brake feel until the end of the Saturday sessions (Barber).

Thanks all. I didn't think about it before I posted, but what not to get is just as good info as what works. Us new guys need all the help we can get!

When was the last time you flushed your fluid? I was getting bad brake fade before I flushed mine.

Ummm...same time I had my 15, 30, and 45k mile check done on my Civic at the Honda place...never. Not a good answer probably. I didn't know it needed to be changed. I've had the bike 3 months and don't know what was done to it before then. Guess I'll start with that and see what happens. That's what you experts are here for...I was thinking pads, but it looks like fluid should be the first thing I work on. Thanks!

Just check the pads and the fluid. I have a 08 with 12.6k miles on it and my fluid was bad. Clean off the brake fluid res cap, take it off, carefully remove the boot inside and look at the fluid. If it looks like bloody piss, dehydrated piss or apple cider that is not good. It should be a golden clear clean looking fluid.

That all depends on the kind of fluid you buy... Its not all clear... Some are Blue, Yellow and Green...

Touche. I never seen red or green but have used ATE blue in cars. Stock fluid will be a nasty dirty brown though.
