My girlfriend has just started riding street and a friend of ours is also relatively new to street. Looking for maybe a 100 mile loop to for us to run Sunday starting around Woodstock. Dont' really want to ride 575 all the way to jasper / ellijay before we get to any good roads. I was thinking taking East Cherokee up to and crossing over GA20. That next section of road is pretty good. Anyone know of some good roads beyond that to complete the trip?

Thanks

E Cherokee to 20, west to 575, follow it down a couple exits and stay on 20 west, out of town towards Cartersville, Right on 108, take that back to 515, cross 515 it turns into 53, after that I know the roads to angle back down but can't remember the names :D

Once 108 crosses 515 the next stop sign will take you to Dawsonville (very nice road) if you take 53 straight at that stop sign. If you turn left (north) at that stop sign, you can pick up 136 going east- again, another very fun road. That dead ends into 183. Turn left and take 52 north to Fort Mountain. Nice routes.

Bell's Ferry or East Cherokee to 20. West on 20 to 108. 108 North to 140. West on 140 to 441. South on 441 to 41. 41 south to Red Top Mountain Road. East on Red top Mountain Road to New Hope Road. Left onto New Hope to Kellogg Creek. Left onto Kellogg Creek back to Bell's Ferry.

About 70 miles.

Another vote for 108. If they are really new to riding, Little Refuge might be a bit intimidating. If you take it, it will dump you on Hwy 140. Take a left and less than ½ mile take Salacoa rd(right turn) and that will take you to Hwy 411. Also off of Salacoa there is Jerusalem Church rd that will take you to hwy 53. Take a left on 53 and follow signs to Hwy 136 to 382 and that almost takes you all the way to Ellijay.

plus there could be gravel.... but if you take it at a slow pace it's not that bad and there isn't too much traffic...

I'm new in town. Living in Canton. I've ridden 108 a couple times and just beware, they did some patching in the cracks all along the road coming from 20. Made it feel like my tires were slipping out on some corners. Just a little unnerving. I've ridden a road called White Rd / Stamp Creek. Its right at the intersection of 20 and 108. Its older and has some loose gravel, but its my favorite local road so far.

I took a ride down 108 about a month ago. Those aren't patches, they're known as "tar snakes". And yes, they can give a little wiggle and can be a little un-nerving to say the least. They get worse as the asphalt temp goes up!

Also be aware the Waleska PD is near the corner of 108 and 140!

I was about to say the Tar Snakes on 108 are sucking bad. We've come home that way a lot from the mountains, but this past weekend, we took 136 over Burnt Mtn instead and worked our way down/over to 411 and then I have a back roads route from Cartersville all the way home.
