I am a big Jimmy Buffet fan and all he is doing is pandering. He is a big Obama supporter, which is not a surprise, but he fails to mention (Hell, probably doesn't know) that Obama was the biggest beneficiary of campaign contributions from BP and that Obama is the first President in decades to open up new areas for offshore drilling and gas exploration. Didn't matter who was in office, this was probably going to happen and I don't blame Obama for it. I blame Obama for his craptastic response to it.

I have to disagree with this. We've already seen that musicians can pay a heavy price for criticizing Bush. I don't think Buffet's audience is that different from the Dixie Chicks. I think he's going out on a limb by getting political at all. And I'm not much of a fan of his, for the record.

His audience is probably a bit more diverse than you give it credit for. Any artist is going out on a limb by getting political, but there is a huge difference between saying this spill is Bush's fault and saying "We're ashamed the President is from Texas" to an audience in a foreign country.
