Hey everyone, just a quick "keep your eyes out", just had my K6 GSXR 750 stolen from my apartment complex.
I live at the Lavista Walk complex (corner of Cheshire Bridge and Lavista) in a gated (so what....) parking deck. Guys drove past at least 4 other bikes to get to the 4th floor to steal mine.
Anyways, it's stock blue and white, with the GSXR 750 stickers removed with a Jardine exhaust. Has about 5,300 miles on it. If you see anything similar for sale, please drop me a line.
Thanks,
Phil Jones
Phil - sorry to hear that, especially as you only just bought it! Now for the more exciting question of "what's next"?

That sucks bro. I'll be on the lookout. Especially since I'm in the area.

Thanks guys - the sad thing is that since I've only owned it for 3 months, I haven't even gotten bored with it. Might be another GSXR750 that replaces it.... We'll see.

What kind of insurance did you have? Full covereage or liability?
Well, you COULD get an immaculate bought-new-last-year and with remaining warranty R6S with lots of high end goodies. I hear a highly respected member of the forum has one for sale. That'd be me, btw :)\
Good luck deciding what to get - that's a big part of the fun.

Ha, suspect that's a bit out of my price range!!! Saw you were thinking about giving up riding, and then I think you were looking for something new. Did you pick something up? One of the triumph cafe racers by any chance??? I'm leaning towards the 750 again, but not sure. Money's tight with a year of school left to go.... :-)

If you get a replacement get LoJack esp if your in apt. I've heard of stories when bikes are stolen out of garages at Homes too it's crazy. If you value your bike Lojack is the best investment money can buy.My garage is on an alarm system but you never know if someone wants it badly they will get it.sorry about your bike I know that sucks and hopefully you get it back. I had a friend have his stolen Near Ga tech and they found it year's later stripped .

You know, I can't decide whether I'm coming or going. As of right now, I'm seriously thinking about a standard/naked bike - a Tuono or a Speed Triple. So I'm selling the R6S for a hair under $6K, for which I'm getting a lot of flack from my wife (bought new last year for $6.5K plus tax, did $1500 worth of upgrades, and just had the thing serviced at the dealer) - just listed it on here, as a matter of fact. But then next month I may decide that biking is too dangerous. If I do, I'll probably return another month later asking for opinions on yet another bike. I find it very hard to kick the habit - it's just so much darned fun! And "new" bikes constantly tickle my fancy. If I do get another bike, that would be a 3rd in just over a year - which ain't clever.

That totally sux dude. You gotta be cold blooded to seal another mans motorcycle. If you don't get it back all you can do is hope that one day they will get whats coming to them one way or another. Karma is a bitch.

Although there were 2 people posting, one with engine and mechanicals (which looks like the above) posting maybe, the other with frame and suspension, so could be the later. At this point, I'm pretty sure I'm not going to recover it, so whatever... Thank god for insurance!

Yeah, the problem is when you contact the APD they tell you "Oh, the GSP and GBI have taken over" and when you contact the GBI they tell you they don't know anything about it. Painful trying to get anyone to even pretend like they know anything....

Louie, will do!!! Yeah, unfortunately my lease isn't up until June. I'm actually afraid they won't total it out, but either way, I graduate in May and my lease is up in June, so I'll be out of here soon enough!!!!

Hahaha, apparently parking it in the same spot as the GSXR was a bad decision.... This one was at least chained (cut the cable, popped the ignition cylinder)... Cops found over by Northlake mall, but guy had laid it down (actually not massive damage, but everything is scrapped up - fairings, swing arm, clutch cover) so not sure what insurance is going to do. Have authorized Triumph dealer working up estimate on it this week, will find out next week I assume.
So might be in market for new bike soon....

WTF? Are you serious, you had two bikes stolen? Do you live in the f'n ghetto or something?
That's messed up, I feel for you man!
I'd put another bike out there as bait and beat the shit of the guy that tries to take it!

I wouldn't touch a bike till u moved sorry but why waste money on something that might be stolen a 3rd time. Your going to take a hit on insurance claim's to the point on being dropped.

First off, I think I've passed the "he just needs a beating" stage....
But yeah, I completely agree, I'm not putting another bike in this garage, it's clear there's someone here who's acting as a spotter. I'm working on getting out of my lease, think they will agree (I mean, I've had TWO bikes stolen in six months). And bizarrely, it's actually a pretty nice place (stainless steel appliances, granite counter tops), but it is located on Lavista Rd by Cheshire Bridge.....
Anyways, will find out this week if I'm going to be able to get out of my lease, we'll see.
And I appreciate everyone's comments, I haven't been on here in about 6 months (busy with school), says a lot that everyone is still offering their support!!!!!

I haven't hung out there for many years (it used to be part of my regular circulation) but that doesn't strike me as a bad area. Certainly it isn't the sanitized version of city life they serve in Alpharetta or Woodstock or even Norcross (where they throw in some immigrants for authenticity), but it wasn't a ghetto. Who runs the place where you live? They deserve to be called out. It's one thing for your public areas to be just unsecured, like any other public parking lot, but when they become target areas for thieves, you need to do something.
PhilJonez
02-06-2011, 01:29 PM
Yeah, definitiely not ghetto at all, Cheshire Bridge is a little dodgy, but shouldn't have this issue... Honestly, I think it's someone living here acting as a spotter for someone else....
Place is managed by Atlanta Realty Partners, after the first bike was stolen and multiple other car break ins and thefts (not sure they took whole cars, but definitely had some wheels ripped off....), they put security in place from 10 pm until 6 am, but since they told all the residents that, I'm guessing the "spotter" just had his buddy change his timing accordingly... My lease is up in 4 months, think I'll just ride it out, get a storage unit for the bike, and go from there....

Few item's I was going to mention Try adding Lowjack gps (under 1K) that might help figure out who's stealing your bike or ask the police to park a couple of bikes and wait for the bait to show up. There are lot's of methods to figure out the core problems here but the police don't seem willing to find the overall solution or too buzy.
PhilJonez

Yeah, long story short, I don't think the cops care at all. Just low on their priority list I suspect. But yeah, I'm already looking to get a GPS alarm on my next bike.... And it won't be parked in this garage either...

sadly, not too many cops really "care". it's just a job to most. but even those like catching bad guys. Conyers Police have set up bait vehicles numerous times and made many arrests in the past, but those type things take lots of hours and a good deal of overtime and these days the cities and counties don't have the budget for it. lots of folks can't pay their taxes
mind you i could get very negative about the Rockdale budget, but since that's who pays me, guess i better not
