Politicians think (or maybe really can't) get re-elected without MASSIVE ENTITLEMENT programs, giving people something for "nothing".

Unfortunately that something comes from TAX MONEY from people, not "nothing" or "the government".

I think we have reached the tipping point in this country. Washington State and Colorado are going to be taxing candy, soda and internet sales, also. Nearly all states are in a "budget crisis".

These ridiculous tax hikes, new laws with fines and restrictions that cost tax money to get around WILL CONTINUE until total economic collapse....

OR

The taxpaying, non-leeching citizens of this country stand up and say enough.

AND

TERM LIMITS for politicians. These B@stards have made a career out of getting re-elected. Enough is enough. They have to give out bigger and better treats then the next guy to keep their grip on power, a vicious circle that gets us where we are now.

D or R, does not matter. No more career politicians.

Sure, work yourself up the ladder, but don't stay in one position for 25 years. That leads to corruption.

Also, EVERYONE has to get involved at their local level. STOP your local politicians from spending state and federal money.

Schools are a great place to start. really look at the curriculum and how the schools are spending. I think we can all agree that kids today are not getting what most people would consider an "education". Even at the elementary school level, there is all sorts of time being spent on "social issues"...

Enough already. Let the parents teach social issues, not the government. Teachers should teach the basics, reading, writing and MATH (thought I was going to go there, didn't you). Leave the social engineering to PARENTS. Kids don't need to come home from school and tell their parents they learned from teacher that what their parents do is "wrong" for: The environment/The Poor/Animals/their health, etc.

This is happening to several family members and friends here in GA.

Also, do kids need laptops to learn? NO. Do kids need shiny new football stadiums to learn? NO. Do kids need electronic whiteboards to learn? NO.

This disease of unchecked spending has invaded every level of our lives and government.

If we spent our own money like the government, we would be out on the streets in a week (unless you got bailed out with more tax money, stolen from another, more responsible citizen).

CUT BUDGETS / STOP SPENDING / TERM LIMITS / REDUCE TAXES

Only then shall we regain our freedom and our great country.

Great post. I couldn't agree more. I'm debating on private school for my kids(if and when). Public schools (I went there) are God awful!

I have sat for years listening to all the calls for term limits, hell just vote the bastids out of office. That is the best term limit there is. However, when you start hearing how great John Lewis is because he is a civil rights icon, then therein lies the problem. If you are voting for John Lewis because he is a civil rights icon, then me question is this, what has he done for last 40 years. Now onto bigger fish to fry, yeah the Chairman is great for a stage act but folks he is not the central figure, he requests money from the legislative branch, if the Congress says nuts to you Mr. Executive branch then guess what no new law. Now if the executive branch decides to rule with executive order like FDR did then we have a real problem to deal with. As long as the masses keep getting money in their pockets, ie unemployment benefits etc, they won't go hungry. As long as the masses can keep getting their comfort food and watch sports on TV all is well. Take that away and you could have issues on the way. Now me statement doesn't apply to all just look in the mirror and see if it applies to you. Okay rant number 1 over for now.

You answered your own question. The people of CA voted Arnold for Governor. Totally unqualifed. Your flaw is you presume people are informed voters. People are elected on rhetoric, image and popularity - not competence.

I can't remember the exact quote but basically when the have nots and lazy people figure out they can vote people in office to take from the haves, you're going to see the end of our society.

The answer to your thread title/question: Obama hasn't been impeached yet.

Living in a University town and having a mother that still works there (and has for...a damn good while?) i can fully disagree with these budget cuts. GSU has gained a LOT of students in the last ten years......student costs have skyrocketed.......it's like any other organization that had lots of money to waste, wasted it, and now has to figure out how to keep everything kosher. you can't cut out all the new parts you have created to sustain all the old ones that were necessary, can you? or CAN you?

oh wait, it doesn't matter, because money will go to the unnecessary parts and cut down the NEEDED parts in return since people in minor management positions can't manage the money worth a damn in the first place. so we'll see losses in continuing education administration so that juan valdez can keep his job riding a golf cart around during december next year, only to see an increase in tuition and 'tech' fees as well.

this coming from a minimum wage slave, so don't assume i'm against juan valdez, ok?

CUT BUDGETS / STOP SPENDING / TERM LIMITS / REDUCE TAXES

Wrong order.
Term limits, stop spending, cut budgets, reduce taxes.

Make them four aces in the deck. As long as they all get dealt out we will be much better off. You are right, Term Limits would be best first and probably a better catalyst for the others.
