Why, because a wild animal did what it would normally do? I'm no tree hugging hippie, but damn man, maybe after the first 2 times, someone should have just opened the gate and let the damn thing go back to the wild.

I don't know how many times this has happened over all the whales, but it's obviously not enough to make folks stop going to see them. In the end, maybe this whale is getting a taste for his trainers and it's time to let him fend for himself.

Sucks that it happened, but it's hard to blame the animal for this (I'm not blaming the trainer either). Born in captivity or not (I don't know, didn't read the article) it's still a wild animal. They are unpredictable and this is something that the trainers know before they set foot in the tank.

this animal was born in the wild. He was taken from his family when he was 2. He had 2 other deaths attributed to him but neither was like this. One was a homeless person who had snuck into the park and decided to swim with him. They found him the next day dead of hypothermia. They also did not swim with this animal due to his past. the trainer was grabbed off of the platform. Either way I feel wild animals should not be in captivity either until they have to be to be kept from going extinct

My family was just at SeaWorld last week and I have a picture of this trainer. Its really sad, but I think like most people, don't think they belong in captivity for anything other than rehab. I'd like to see SeaWorld end the shows.

That being said, they don't abuse these Orcas. Basically they reward the behavior that they want (fish, fun, toys) and ignore the bad behaviors.
