So your saying you have no idea then... correct? there are still folks out there that would rather fix instead of discard and replace.

You can't do it cost effectively. You're supposed to replace all 3 CRTs at once. They're a coupla hundred bucks each. Buy a new TV is the right advice.

Edit: Not to mention alignment/calibration once the new one(s) go in.

The CRT is $200. I know I should replace all 3 but was hoping to get away with just the red one. Problem is I can not find one anywhere. I even called Toshiba and they had nothing. Looks like I am going to have to deal with it awhile till x-mas.

The only reason I say to replace them all at once, is if you talk to anyone who has done this before.. A. The picture doesn't look great when you've got 2 blurry light guns and one sharp gun. B. There is a strong tendency for AT LEAST one of the other two guns to go out within 6 months after the first one has. Have you called Norman's? They're who we used in GA, they got us all our parts. If you DO find it.. remember you need the coolant too. Sorry I can't be more help, just wanted to be sure you knew what you're getting into. I'd be willing to bet that if you watch craigslist, for the same $250 + time and effort that you would spend on ONE bulb, and opening the TV and installing it, you could just pick up another used TV and get 3 more years out of it, and be happier than if you spent $200 on one bulb. Just IMHO, though.

Duh, wife suggested we check the cables and they had been pulled out slightly. Pushed back in and tv looks great again. good thing because there were no crt's for this tv to be found. I would have had to buy a new tv. Bad thing is I almost had the wife talked into upgrading from 65" to a new 73" tv. But I guess this just means more money to spend on a track bike.
